Purchased YL and YXL in two different colors in advance of a trip for my child. The waist/hip is huge on him even for the YL but the other dimensions fit well. Have to try YM now to shrink waist but YM might end up being too short for him. This could be solved with an adjustable waist but these do not have adjustable bands.

These lack an adjustable waistband, which is deal breaker for anything to fit my boys, and thus are going back. As another customer noted, the previous year’s model did have an adjustable waistband and so we were able to make them work for my 5’2” 11 yr old with a 28” waist. He can put this new pair on over top a pair of jeans and still has at least 4” to spare in the waist. It would be helpful if Columbia made slim sizes (also petites for me!!) and kept with adjustable waistbands for boys in each size range. We bought these to use for my son’s Scouting uniform; not sure what we’ll do now since I literally cannot find pants to fit my son that fulfill this purpose.

This pants are lightweight, durable and very versatile. Perfect for a layer worthy hike or adventure. In either shorts or pants, they stand up to the elements.

I bought this about a month ago and plan on using it for our summer geocaching hikes. Dryer sheets should not be used with this type of fabric, so I air dry them. Also, my husband reminded me to wash both the pant and short portion at the same time so that the color will remain consistent through the whole piece when zipped together. My son is very slender and these pant fit a bit loose on him, so he will probably fit in them for a couple more years as he is 8 years old now.

My son loves his Silver Ridge III pants and wears them for hiking. I recently bought him another pair thinking these would be the same but the Silver Ridge IV has an elastic waistband. He's a slim, fit little boy (10-12) and these new pants just fall off of him. The older pants had an adjustable waistband that could be customized to fit his frame. Poor choice in the redesign of these pants.

Absolutely love these pants!!! Please make them in black and navy so we can use them for uniform pants!

These pants have been great. They are a tad big on my skinny kids but hopefully that means they will get more than one season of use, and the belt loops help them stay up. The fabric seems tough but lightweight and dries fast. The only thing missing is zippers at the ankles so the legs can slide over shoes.

I use these for hiking and when I'm traveling. There comfortable and I like the ripstock feature. All in all very good.

They are thin but very durable. I’ve owned several of these and they seem to last forever. They are not warm or insulated but great for spring through fall outdoor activity.

My son looks so nice in these. The quality is truly exceptional.

We love these pants for hiking trips to the desert! They are definitely a slim fit, so keep that in mind. We have noticed some stitching coming undone on two of the five pair that we've purchased, so something else to watch for. That said, we would still re-order them.
