Got this lantern as a gift for Christmas and was very excited to now use it for camping. Opened it up a few days beforehand to get the mantles on and check it out and the screw that is supposed to go through the lid to hold it on fell out inside that lantern it took me 40 minutes to finally get it out and then I realized there is no possible way for me to hold the screw in place to get the lid over it and if it didn’t hold it then it would just fall back in

Used it for the first time on a weekend campout. Getting it assembled wasn’t difficult, but putting the mantle on was strange, and I kept waiting for it to break. It didn’t, until I ignited it for the first time. It burned halfway through up at the top, though it held on for the rest of the weekend, when I took it off. I don’t know if it was because of the half ripped mantle, but it also didn’t seem as bright as I remember the two-mantle match lighters being. For sure the mantle is way more delicate. Definitely have some spares on hand. Still, it was pretty easy to use, and it’s not a super big gas hog. I also like the stand it comes with — the ones we had when I was a kid had to hang from something or get attached to the top of a propane tree.

I have been using mine for 20 years now and it’s still the best lantern I’ve ever used you will never regret buying one it gives great light and easy to use im any setting or place outside you need good lighting

This lantern is fantastic. It doesn't add the artificial LED glow to your campsite so it actually feels like you're camping. It runs for a long time on a single can of propane. The handle makes it easy to transport while lit without burning yourself or anything else. Great option if you have the propane to spare.

I've been using Coleman lanterns and stoves for decades. I decided it was time to replace my old lantern after the valve got worn out (I used it for 20 years or so with no issues). I bought this lantern last fall. The light output is amazing, and at full blast, I got a couple of evenings out of one tank. The mantles are a little more prone to breaking due to their length and being stretched to attach to two points but not bad. I love the electronic ignition, it feels much safer than lighting the old lanterns with a match. The bad: I went on my annual fall, week long fishing trip with my friend I've known since grade school. After that, I packed it up in it's case and that's where it stayed until my spring trip. We got to camp last week and I unpacked the lantern and the globe was shattered. Keep in mind that to and from both times it was in it's case that was in a big rolling plastic container. This was not the result of abuse, rather it was substandard materials/workmanship. I chose this lantern based on the brand and expected durability, I was sorely disappointed.

Great old school bright lantern. I purchased two for a 40 foot container we keep tools in the woods and one for the cabin. All 3 work great.

I've had two. Both had a gas leak. The red ignition started on fire and dripped burning plastic. Second time almost burned my tent.

Really love this lantern, it's easy to light and it is really bright. The only thing is it didn't come with a storage bag.

We use this Coleman Northstar lantern for camping and whatever emergency pops up on everyday life. I wouldn't trade my Coleman Northstar for no other kind of lantern on the market today. Period

The lantern came intact, thanks to the meticulous packing. It performs the way I expect Coleman products to perform. It was pretty straightforward to assemble and install the mantle. I definitely recommend this lantern to other campers.

I have used this lantern for over 20 years. At least 10-15 trips a year. The sparker capped out last week. 02/010/24, . I have to agree with the reviewer that it is very easy to get it cross threaded. The threads are very fine and I am always afraid or ruining them. Thinking about a replacement.
Absolutely great product, excellent for emergencies & camping. Easy to use & maintain.

NorthStar Elite Lantern
This NorthStar® 1500 Lumens appears week-made, stout, and Coleman’s quality clearly shows.
