Favorite Cushion Model!
I have tried a lot of "high cushion" shoes (from both Brooks and other companies), and this has been my favorite model. They certainly are not daily walkers, but they are perfect for road running and can hold a lot of miles. Will be buying again.

Good Enough. Still Missing V2
I like the changes made to the upper the compared to the Hyperion Max 3. However, they more unstable to compared to the previous version. For example, when doing a workout, I felt my ankle start to roll as I took a corner at 5k pace.
I still plan to use these for Long days and certain workouts. Ultimately missing the profile and feel of version 2: comfortable and fast, but not so bulky.

Serious Pop
I've always loved Hyperions but previous iterations (especially Hyperion Max 2) maybe didn't give me the arch support I needed (which is why I always have Glycerins and now Glycerin Maxes in the rotation). But the Max 4 feels like a revelation. Support, plus real spring, and rolls great for me. Super happy with these. Haven't taken them on a long endurance run yet--almost feel bad going slowly in these--but expect they'll keep me comfortable. Super, super shoe.

Max 3 To Max 4
I really want to love these but I don’t. I’ve been training and running marathons in the Hyperion Max 3 and when the Max 4a were released figured I’d give them a shot. I have a bunion and the Max 3 seems to stretch a bit to accommodate it. The Max 4 do not stretch and the bunion causes issues. I’m hoping that after more mileage the Max 4s may break in properly but we’ll see. Additionally the Max 4 does not seem to handle sweat well. Living in the Low Country of SC the summers are hot and HUMID and my running shoes end up soaked. With the Max 3s the sweat seems to release however the Max 4s seem to absorb it so as I run I sound like I’m wearing galoshes.
Again I really want to love these shoes but out of the box I’m not loving them. Maybe after few more miles my opinion will change.

Too Firm And Not Worth The Hype
I really wanted to like these shoes, but they just weren't anything special. They feel much firmer than I expected and don't provide the energy return or "boost" I was hoping for. They also feel slightly heavier than I anticipated.
I'm a big fan of the Brooks Glycerin Max 2, and I wanted to try something different that might be a little faster. Unfortunately, these didn't deliver. I'll be going back to my Glycerin Max 2—they may not be the fastest shoe out there, but they're much more comfortable and enjoyable to run in.
Maybe it's just my personal preference, but I wasn't impressed. The ride feels very firm, lacks responsiveness, and overall just didn't work for me.

Great Foam
Light, but very responsive. Legs felt good during and after a 13 mile run.

Great Shoe For Mid To Long Runs…exceptional Shoe For Senior Runners Who Want Stability, Moderate Cushion, And Energized Stride.
Comfortable fit, roomy toe box, snug and comfortable width and heal.
Cushioned feel but I can still “feel” the road, a superior connection to the Glycerin, which I have enjoyed for years.
I am 64 and my pace has slowed over the last five years…on long run I’m less inclined to use a carbon plated shoe. This shoe gives great bounce. Just completed a marathon this week and give the H4 Max an “A”.

Cushioned But Light
Feels light for a max cushion shoe. The elastic straps attached to the tongue sometimes get bunched up.

Long time Brooks customer, wanted to try out a higher stack shoe. I have found them to be a very cushioned ride, best suited for road running. I didn't love the color options that were available.

Great Shoe
Great daily speed training shoe. Once you get settled into a pace it's really easy to tick over the miles. Great foot to road protection, and rebound from the midsole.

Great For Hyperion Lovers!
I’ve been running in the Hyperion line since it was first introduced and have absolutely loved every version. I run 4-5 races each year, including both full and half marathons. My typical rotation is to train in the Hyperions and race in the Hyperion Elite.
I purchased the Hyperion Max 4 looking to transition further into the “super trainer” category and experience the latest foam and technology updates. Over the past several weeks, I’ve logged multiple long runs and speed sessions in them. Initially, I was very impressed with the ride, responsiveness, and cushioning.
More recently, however, I’ve started experiencing some left heel pain. I wasn’t aware that the drop had changed from previous Hyperion models, moving from 8mm to 6mm. While 2mm may not sound significant, it can be enough to alter loading patterns on the Achilles and heel, particularly for runners accustomed to the previous geometry.
I also noticed that the upper on my left shoe appears slightly off-center, which may also be contributing to the issue. I may have to return them.
Overall, I would wholeheartedly recommend the Hyperion Max 4. It’s an excellent shoe with impressive technology and performance characteristics. Just be aware of the changes in geometry and pay attention to fit, as these nuances may affect some runners differently.
