Blisters On A Great Shoe 😞

Huge fan of the Hyperion max line. Unfortunately this pair cause blisters around the heel collar and I had to go back to a 3. Fantastic shoe. Just this update didn’t work for me.

Terrible Shoe

Terrible. Sole way too thick. Material is cheap and wearing out after just a few runs. Just an awkward terrible shoe. Brooks quality has declined significantly in the last few years.

Not Impressed, Overall Quality Of Brooks Shoes Is On The Decline

Long time brooks user , physical therapist, and sports medicine ambassador. I have sworn by Brooks for a decade and a half, but unfortunately find the overall quality of the product getting worse, and unfortunately more expensive with each iteration of the previously good shoes. These shoes are absurdly thick soled, and your feet will rest in plantar flexion in them. The medial aspect of the sole has a chunk absent, presumably to offer some kind of biomechanical support but in reality just resulting in an overly thick/heavy, awkward shoe. It's just flat out not a good shoe, and not nearly worth the price. Disappointed in the direction the company is going, and have found better results with other brands lately.

Lovely Shoe

I procrastinated getting this shoe as I overpronate and I was worried about the medial cut out. However, to my delight, this show has been more stable neutral. I love the firmness and pop from the combination of the foams and geometry making this a great tempo shoe.

By Far Best I Have Ever Put My Feet In

Best shoes I have ever put my feet in. Only wish they came in more colors. I have two of them.

Favorite Cushion Model!

I have tried a lot of "high cushion" shoes (from both Brooks and other companies), and this has been my favorite model. They certainly are not daily walkers, but they are perfect for road running and can hold a lot of miles. Will be buying again.

Good Enough. Still Missing V2

I like the changes made to the upper the compared to the Hyperion Max 3. However, they more unstable to compared to the previous version. For example, when doing a workout, I felt my ankle start to roll as I took a corner at 5k pace. I still plan to use these for Long days and certain workouts. Ultimately missing the profile and feel of version 2: comfortable and fast, but not so bulky.

Serious Pop

I've always loved Hyperions but previous iterations (especially Hyperion Max 2) maybe didn't give me the arch support I needed (which is why I always have Glycerins and now Glycerin Maxes in the rotation). But the Max 4 feels like a revelation. Support, plus real spring, and rolls great for me. Super happy with these. Haven't taken them on a long endurance run yet--almost feel bad going slowly in these--but expect they'll keep me comfortable. Super, super shoe.

Excellent pair of shoes. I wish an 2E (wide) option is available.

My Go To For Long Steady Runs

Compare them with the Max 2; the Max 4 is most comfortable.

Max 3 To Max 4

I really want to love these but I don’t. I’ve been training and running marathons in the Hyperion Max 3 and when the Max 4a were released figured I’d give them a shot. I have a bunion and the Max 3 seems to stretch a bit to accommodate it. The Max 4 do not stretch and the bunion causes issues. I’m hoping that after more mileage the Max 4s may break in properly but we’ll see. Additionally the Max 4 does not seem to handle sweat well. Living in the Low Country of SC the summers are hot and HUMID and my running shoes end up soaked. With the Max 3s the sweat seems to release however the Max 4s seem to absorb it so as I run I sound like I’m wearing galoshes. Again I really want to love these shoes but out of the box I’m not loving them. Maybe after few more miles my opinion will change.

Too Firm And Not Worth The Hype

I really wanted to like these shoes, but they just weren't anything special. They feel much firmer than I expected and don't provide the energy return or "boost" I was hoping for. They also feel slightly heavier than I anticipated. I'm a big fan of the Brooks Glycerin Max 2, and I wanted to try something different that might be a little faster. Unfortunately, these didn't deliver. I'll be going back to my Glycerin Max 2—they may not be the fastest shoe out there, but they're much more comfortable and enjoyable to run in. Maybe it's just my personal preference, but I wasn't impressed. The ride feels very firm, lacks responsiveness, and overall just didn't work for me.

Great Foam

Light, but very responsive. Legs felt good during and after a 13 mile run.
