Love These Poles!

I have used these poles on multiple 14ers, long trail runs, and day hikes. They are super light, and pack up small enough to fit in all of my packs, big or small. Previously I almost never used poles because they were difficult to pack, now I rarely go into the backcountry without them. Super easy to dis/assemble and adjust on the go, no need to stop along the way.

Disappointed

I’d of probably loved them had I actually received them.

Feel solid, and the the adjustability is handy along with the Z-style folding. Took me a while to work out the locking mechanism but super easy to use now.

Theyre extremely packable and easy to deploy. They take up very little space in your pack when they're folded up. They're super lightwieght and easy to walk with, but they feel incredibly durable. While the straps are minimal, they're still very comfortable around the wrist and hand for long periods of time.

Lightweight, portable, durable and adjustable. What more can you ask for! They also come with the carbonite and rubber tips! You pay for what you get, but it's totally worth it!

Awesome Lightweight Poles!

I really bought these for a trip to Peru but use them as my primary pole now. So light and practical for all my hikes.

Build quality and features are decent, but the grip design and the sizing of the wrist straps leaves a lot to be desired.

Cane Size

I ordered it for narrow water hiking in Zion canyon national park. It is shorter than description for me. I felt it is like a cane length. not hiking pole. I need upper size, so I returned it.

Love These!!

This is my second pair of Black Diamond FLZ poles. My first pair are still functional after five years of trekking in the Smokies, Nepal, Bhutan, Inca Trail in Peru, and in 2020 prior to lockdown the Milford Track in New Zealand. I am returning to Peru for a second Inca Trail with a friend and felt it was time for a new pair. They are great for travel as they fold up for transport, are study, and save my aging knees. Would not trek without them. I like these as opposed to the carbon fiber as I have heard they can fracture if you should happen to fall on them. I suspect these will last me until I am no longer hiking (although I hope to hike another 16 years. 85 is the new 50, right?).

Utter Disappointment...and Somewhat Dangerous!

My husband and I have owned BD folding poles for years...so when the time came, we bought some for our kids. These simply would not stay elongated! On literally every 3rd or 4th step, one of their poles would come unlocked. . .we kept thinking it must have been some sort of user error...but after 1 of the poles gave way as our kid was trying to climb a slope - that was it for us. Total disappointment!

Still Walking

I had a pair of these for years that saw me through very demanding hikes and a daily walking regimen of at least 4 miles. finally, one of them gave up (better the pole than me...right?) So i got a new pair and they are just dandy!

Lightweight And Hardy

I bought these to take on a thru-hike. I have since taken them on multiple other backpacking trips as well. The poles are very lightweight, yet hardy. The z-pole fold up technology is extremely convenient and easily pack able. The flicklock makes it easy to adjust the height of the poles as you hike. I had no issues taking these poles through snow, rain, mud, dirt, and scrambling up and down large rocks.

Broke After Minimal Use

I purchased a pair of these 2 years ago. I used them about once a month and one of the poles no longer works - it won't "lock" and therefore is absolutely useless. Please note I have not used them in any manner other than what they were intended for and only for gentle, short "hikes" (I say "hikes" because it's more like inclined walking). I'd be wary to use them for any intense activities or international travel unless you pack a spare.

Really Nice Poles

Very lightweight. It took me a couple of tries to figure out how to get the poles to lock, but after that they're great.

Too Short For Me

I have Black Diamond trekking poles and do like them, so i wanted a pair for traveling. As I was in the mid-range of the recommended height for the 110 cm trekking poles, I expected there would be no issue and bought online. Should have tried at a retailer, but limited choice here on the coast. Unfortunately, they were too short, as there is minimal adjustment leeway (a sacrifice for portability) and even at max extension, my wrist was lower than my elbow. The recommendation is to size up, I suggest you measure your comfort height with your standard poles first. I returned, got the next size and these are fine. Am headed to Acadia soon, look forward to using.
