Lightweight, Easy To Setup...still Getting Used To It.

After years of thick tarp bottomed tents like Coleman, it's taking some time to get used to higher quality backpacking tent fabric. I do love this tent - it's a great size, weight is fine for backpacking, the fly has great coverage, but I am SO paranoid about destroying the bottom. It feels thin, though I know that is the idea given the tent's purpose. If you are on any kind of hill, the floor is also quite slippery, letting your mat slide and pull the floor at the staked corners. I was adjusting the tent all night for fear I'd rip it. On a flatter grassy ground, it was fine without slipping. Maybe it's the tent, maybe it's me, but hopefully I get over the fear and it's as sturdy as it claims!

Best Tent

Sooooo light weight! I love this thing! It has more than enough room for me and it’s in my favorite color. I just love looking at this thing so much thank you Big Agnes !

Almost Perfect

I used this tent for 14 days straight at Philmont, changing camp every day, plus multiple other trips since. The material held up well through rainy days, and setup took minimal effort each time. The fabric was nice and very light, and the interior space was good and easy for anyone to use. Highly recommend, it was nearly perfect. The only downside was that the poles sometimes had trouble staking compared to previous tents I've used from REI.

Light, But At A Cost

i am not one to leave bad reviews, but the materials used on this tent really disappointed me and has made me avoid all big agnes products. i understand that the material has to be thin to be as light as possible, but the amount of little tears that appeared in the bug screen material every time i set this tent up was ridiculous. it made me angry that i spent so much on this, i thought the durability would be better but that's the compromise of having light gear i guess. i don't think this tent is any more durable than other tents that cost 1/4 if the price

Great Quiver Of One Tent

I bought this because I needed a lightweight tent for alone climbing and mountaineering objectives in the PNW. I considered a single wall, 4-season tent, but realized that the condensation issues inherent in single wall tents would far outweigh the potential pros (light, better protection form the elements, easier setup). A solid 3-season tent is preferable for 95% of what I plan to use it for, and after much research, I opted for the Big Agnes Copper Spur UL2. I would estimate about 50% of the people I climb with also use some Copper Spur variant. Pros: lightweight (3lb 5oz including footprint, 8 stakes, guylines, and stuff sack), sturdy, comfortable in a variety of conditions. it has a lot of little details that I've come to appreciate, like little loops to quickly stuff the door in to hold it open. The zippers rarely catch. They've only caught in the rain fly, but the material is so silken that it just sort of slips out of the zipper rather than getting stuck. Ample interior area and vestibule. Cons: it's a double wall tent, so setup is never going to be as simple as a single wall tent. you set it up like any other double wall tent. That's no big deal until you find yourself pitching it in wet or windy weather. Fortunately, I haven't had to do that yet, but I imagine that keeping things from getting wet or blowing away will be a struggle unless you have a buddy or two to help. the other con, and this is a minor gripe, is the guylines. They've got near little adjustable clips, and the cord itself is great, but the way it comes from the factory is just tied to the loops on the fly exterior. The guy lines are long, maybe 4-6 feet, and the little adjustors allow you to adjust from full length to half of full length. Going smaller than that, you need to get creative. I ended up getting the guylines to the tent with an adjustable taut line hitch, so if I need to use less than half of the line, I can adjust the hitch to make a smaller loop to the necessary size.

Awful. Stay Away.

Hole in the bottom of the tent, only after using this tent twice, with a footprint and being super careful about the placement. Reached out to Big Agnes, they refused to replace the tent, blamed it on the tent being "ultralight" which is a poor excuse. No piece of gear should fail after 2 uses. I've used their tents before, and have had no issues with previous ultralight tents despite 30+ uses. This clearly has a defect or overall poor quality. Do not spend your money on this tent or on any of their products.

Great 2 Person Tent

Big Agnes tents perform exceptionally well. Rain, high winds, setting up on rough terrain..the Copper Spur 2 held up very nicely on an alpine climbing trip for 3 days. Barely notice the extra few lbs in my pack..Fits two people just fine. (5’10 190lbs + 5’4 120lbs) Was able to keep all my gear covered under the fly + my wife’s. We sleep on a double exped pad and it fits very snug inside. Material is light/durable. Pretty close to an “ultralight” set up without the dyneema price point. Only thing I don’t like is the packing bag for the tent it’s long and odd- I’d rather bundle it all up into a stuff sack personally. Very impressed. Highly recommend.

Super nice tent, the stuff sack is kind of like a burrito instead of a sack. It fits everything well especially if you strap the poles on the outside which is what I do. I kind of wish it was a stuff style because when everything is dirty or wet it gets tricky to get everything in without getting mud on the tent mesh. The tent stakes also are a little hard to secure to the tent at times but similar to many modern tents. It is spacious for one person but with a 25” sleeping pad there is not quite enough space for another person. With something smaller it will be cozy but doable. The tents zippers are really nice and the poles are easy to use. I do find that the rainfly zippers get stuck occasionally but it’s not too bad.

Crazy Light Tent

Very lightweight, little small for 2. Great tent with tons of pockets. I did slightly bend a tentpole because it wasn’t all the way in and it bent the connection point slightly so be careful

Solid Ul Tent

Well built and very packable. Passed all the tests on my latest 4 night river trip.

Amazing

I just completed the 2026 Mammoth Sniper Challenge 2 in Ft Chaffee AR and it DUMPED rain on us. So much so that I had to help my teammate move his tent to a different position at midnight due to flooding. I was right next to him in about 1" of flooded ground and I stayed completely dry inside this tent. It was a massive storm with a a tornado warning, high winds, etc., that lasted about 3 hours and I was good to go. I was concerned with the ground that we placed our tents on as it was small gravel. But with the Big Agnes footprint, it was totally fine. It didn't even scratch the tent bottom. The footprint was good also. I am so glad that I purchased this tent, the footprint and the Big Agnes mattress/sleeping pad. I will definitely be recommending Big Agnes to anyone who asks.

Perfect Tent

I absolutely love this tent. I've taken it on over 10 backpacking trips, including a 12 day trek at Philmont in the back country of New Mexico, and it always performed like a champ. It held up to everything from downpours to hail storms and always stayed dry. The features are incredibly well thought out, making it my favorite tent. I wouldn't change a thing.

Solid

I have used many tents backpacking, often at or above treeline in the Cascades, as well as Nepal. I find this tent to be the best balance of durability, simplicity, functionality and lightness.

Fantastic Tent

Best tradeoff of weight to comfort ratio. Wanted something under three pounds that didn’t feel like a coffin and this was absolutely the right choice. Quick and easy set up, used for a couple weeks kayak camping in GA. I didn’t initially buy the footprint but will be buying it soon.
