The fit of the jacket is great. Iam 6ft. 170lbs the medium is a solid choice. Have not put the jacket to use in any foul weather yet its been hot and dry. As some reviews stated the jacket is a bit noisy but I doubt ill be sleeping in it any time soon.

Sizing Strategy Is Failing
The sizing strategy is really off and had to return it-arms too long and too much space in the waist/chest for a large compared to years and years of wearing your large jackets-had to return 1-2 other jackets recently for the same issues-could be a breaking point with buying your products as medium too small and now large is too large…

Beta Hard Shell Jacket
Love the Beta jacket, ordered a size large and fits perfect. Also the black/sapphire color is awesome.

Long-time Customer Left Disappointed
I've been a loyal Arc'teryx customer for decades and have owned several of their products over the years. My confidence in the brand started after a guided three-week telemark skiing trip in the Tetons, where their gear performed exceptionally well in demanding conditions. Every piece I owned lived up to the premium reputation, so I didn't hesitate to order the Beta Jacket.
Unfortunately, this jacket has been a major disappointment. The sleeve length is excessively long, resulting in a poor fit despite the rest of the jacket fitting well.
Even more concerning was its performance in wet weather. The first time I wore it, I was caught in only light to moderate rain for less than 10 minutes. While I remained dry underneath, the outer fabric became completely soaked. For a premium rain jacket at this price point, I expected the water to bead up and shed off the surface rather than saturate the face fabric almost immediately.
I've always associated Arc'teryx with exceptional quality and performance, which makes this experience especially disappointing. Based on my past experiences, I expected much better from the Beta Jacket.

Beta Experience
I love how I could barely feel the wind when wearing it, especially when it is already cold. About its waterproofing, my friends enjoyed testing it by pouring whatever liquid they could find on the jacket. On its own, it is not super warm, but it really does the job of keeping your body safe from the wind, rain, and even snow.

Sleeves Are A Bit Long
The sleeves are a little too long for me, but aside from that, everything is perfect.

Very Nice

Great Quality, But Runs Very Large!
Superb build and premium fabric, though the fit is surprisingly massive. Even with my 51" shoulders, it feels oversized. I’ve had to rely on tightening the hood, hem, and cuff adjusters to manage the extra volume. Great quality, but runs very large!

Low Quality
Within the first week, the fabric of the sleeve cuff adjustment velcro straps on both wrists peeled away. I don’t think this jacket will be very durable considering it’s coming apart from only a couple of wears.

It Really Is Water Proof, Great Buy
Haven't tried it in super heavy rain but a light sprinkle or light rain, this kept me dry!

Arc’teryx Beta Jacket- Size M Review (5’8”, 77kg)
I’m a 45-year-old male, 77 kg, 5’8” tall. I wouldn’t describe myself as lean. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the option to visit a store and try the jacket, as there is no Arc’teryx store or authorised dealer in my country. I purchased this jacket online from a U.S. store, so sizing research was critical for me.
After a lot of research, I went with size M, and it fits me very well. The jacket has ample room for a base layer and a proper mid-layer without feeling tight or restrictive. The fit feels well-balanced and functional.
I’m not commenting on jacket quality or performance, as that has already been covered extensively by many reviewers, and this is a very popular jacket anyway. My intention with this review is purely to help others pick the right size, especially those buying online without the chance to try it on.
For anyone buying this jacket primarily for streetwear or a more relaxed fit, going one size up may be a better choice.
Hope this helps someone make a confident sizing decision.
