Color

Is it really that hard to sell a black version? Who told you that everyone likes blue? Has offering a few more color choices suddenly become the most difficult technical challenge?

Feels Like A Cloud

Bought this for running around town this spring in MN. Wanted something a little different than typical puffer. The moment I put this jacket on I was blown away how comfortable it was. Every seam is soft and just felt cozy but also very light. Vitality is quite a striking color and has grown on me every wear. I’ve been wearing it in mid 40° weather and that seems to be a sweet spot for low level activity/errands. I think I’d be comfortable +- 5°. The cuff material is very soft and so are the two fleece lined hand pockets and the hood. Durability is going to be the one question mark but i have no concerns out of the gate. Breathability is good for a synthetic since it’s not overstuffed with heavy insulation but also has good lightweight loft. I was nervous going from mostly down jackets to this but I’m quite pleased so far. I’m 6,1” 165 and medium is fine. Not too trim but not bulky.

Love The Hidden Pocket

Wow. Great jacket. I got hot just trying it on. Only problem was that the weather down here in Texas got warm again before I actually got the item. It’s so light and soft. Very impressive. I can’t wait for more severe weather to really put it through its paces. Will recommend to others for sure.

Our New Favorite Winter Hiking Piece

I have Atom AR and recently got Atom SV to have another color, and it's been great. I use this at the beginning of hiking until my body is warmed up, when I take small breaks, or under belay parka/shell on longer break for lunch, or downhill whith/without another layer depending on the weather. This became a must winter hiking piece for me and my wife. We have been using this on several hiking trips from 20°F to - 5°F. Both of us enjoy this very much. They changed AR(having fleece panel in armpit) to SV(thinner insulation on sides like Atom LT), and I personally it's been good. I was at +20mph wind advisory hiking I didn't feel wind coming through my body, it just breathed better as an astive layer. Not sure about why people hate it so much on other reviews. We used it on NYC trip too. Temp was about 30-40°F, we tried cerium first but it was too hot and sweaty, Atom SV was perfect to walk around with. We are very happy with this piece.

Zipper?

This is the third Atom jacket that I purchased within the past four or five years. I absolutely love your product, but somehow need to get better with the zipper.

Another Great Atom.

Great jacket. Very warm and breathable and has all the expected features from the Atom LT series.

Excellent Jacket!

After having my Atom SV for only a month, It's already a favorite. warm by itself, very warm with my medium base later hoodie and exceptionally warm with my cardigan and heavyweight hoodie. Super comfortable with great mobility for playing walking and playing fetch on the beach with my dog, who doesn't ever seem to run out of energy. It holds up superbly against the penetrating salty and sandy ocean beach winds. My head remains toasty warm on the winter beach when using just the Atom's hood. Add the heavyweight hoodie's hood and there's no hint of cold - except my face, of course. I hesitate to take this jacket hiking in the woods, because I don't want to test it for tearing resistance against moderate to dense brush, because replacing it would be difficult due to it being a significant expense. I also hesitate wearing it with my ruck loaded with 20-40 lbs of weight because the shoulder straps are made of 1000 denier nylon.shoulder straps are made of 1000 denier nylon and are quite abrasive. I'll certainly wear it around the campfire or for any other cold to very cold activity as long as tears are not a possibility. I have neither worn it in snow nor rain, but I'll put it through its water resistance paces during the next nor'easter to roll into our mid-atlantic coastal community.

Great Fit

Great fit , not tight around stomach ..warm… looks fantastic Not cheap but very well made.

Overall Great Jacket

Arcteryx definitely has it dialed in. Overall it’s a great cold weather jacket, fits and looks great.

Nice Styling & Comfort, But Pills Up On The Collar

Nice styling, comfortable, warm yet versatile. But pilled up bad on the collar after wearing and then just one wash. I’ll need to shave the pills before it’s presentable again.

Skip This Version

Junk compared to the previous version. Why on earth did you add breathable side panels on a jacket made specifically for warmth? Not nearly as warm as my other one.

Warm With Good Insulation

I like most Arcteryx products a lot. In this case, I was upgrading from my old Atom AR hoody to this new Atom SV hoody. This new "revised" product is as good, perhaps a tad thicker and I look forward to wearing it when it gets colder very soon.

Terrible Fitting Furnace

I think it’s fair to say that most people miss the fit of the atom AR. This fits sloppily at best. The hood design is lacking as well. The side panels are not simple fleece like the regular atom. They’re more like the proton insulation and outer nylon. I’m an athletic 6’ and this is just too baggy compared to older designs.

A Great Jacket

gamma jacket. The fabric is technologically advanced and the cutting is excellent. When encountering windy or cold weather outdoors, wearing it can help maintain body temperature.

The New Atom Sv Is A Winner!

I really like the new Atom SV. I grabbed the black, which sold out very quickly. I bought the original Atom SV 13 years ago and gave it away to a guy on the street who needed it more than myself. I always missed that jacket. I then bought the Atom AR, now here we are full circle it seems back to the SV. This new, revised SV has a fit just as the Thorium has. Which is a looser, more relaxed fit over the previous AR. The length on the arms and down the back are just perfect. I really like the hood fit and the bit of internal stiffness and structure around the brim. Fleece backing in the pockets is just great, but there is one big miss on this jacket. We should have dump pockets, especially for a sever weather version of the Atom! Big miss Arc'teryx! This new SV is EXTREMELY WARM and oh so comfortable to wear. I can tell you that this SV does breathe better that the older AR. I'm happy that this version has Coreloft 120 throughout the entire jacket, just like the original SV. As far as fit, the previous AR had a bit of the 'Michelin Man' fit and feel going on , which really limited mobility, but not so here with the new SV, great mobility here with the new SV. The outer fabric has a great feel in hand and instills confidence that it should hold up to wear just fine, but time will tell. Other than the lack of dump pockets, I really like everything else going on here with the new Atom SV, highly recommended.
