Great For Low Volume Feet

I love the fit of these - I've got flat, low volume feet, and the "standard" shape Altras fit better than the original shape for me, so these are a win. I love that they brought the stack height down a bit. I did have to size up a half size from my normal 10. 5, but no heel slippage, which is again, a tough thing to find for me. I walk 4 miles a day in them and haven't had a shoe that works this well for me in years. Bought 2 pairs to alternate, hoping they'll last longer. That's my one complaint about Altras, how quickly they fall apart.

Laces Too Short

For the most part, I love these shoes but I hate that the laces are too short to use them in the heel locks

Poor Fit

These felt smaller right out of the box. I have been wearing Torins for the past four years. The top and bottom of my feet hurt after just one 8hr shift.

I Have Worn Torins For 7 Years

I am so disappointed! I have worn Torins for at least 7 years. They have been wonderful, except for one series that they changed the tongue of the shoe and it felt like a razor blade cutting in to your leg, but I digress. To start, the color choices are only ok, but I will sacrifice color over comfort. After wearing these shoes to work and walk in for two days my feet were screaming! I stand a lot at work, I came home with numb toes and aching arches. No Torin I have bought in the past were this uncomfortable. WHY did you change the shoe Altra?!?!?!??! Returned the 9s and bought 2 pair of the 8s. Please go back to what they were!!!

Less Than Impressed

The color on the sides of the toe box wears off with even a slight scratch. Why not invest in a better quality so that the color is uniform and my shoes don’t look 6 months old with only a week of wear. Comfort and fit is good as always, I just wish my runners looked good for a longer time. Honestly it looks like an imitation product.

Honey, They Shrunk My Shoe!

I have been running in Torins exclusively since 2019. I buy my shoes from a locally owned store, not online. It seems that every couple of years, Altra messes up the Torin sizing - and this is that year. I tried on my usual size (8) and they felt a bit snug, but the 8. 5 was too large. But what is worse is that the volume has been reduced; the shoe is uncomfortably tight top to bottom. The tongue has also been changed, and not in a good way, but the main issue is the decreased volume squashing my feet.

Toe Box Is Too Narrow

The toe box is far too narrow. Wide toe boxes are the primary reason buy Altra Altra shoes, so this is a big disappointment. I hope they remedy this on the next model

Shoe Demo To Purchase

My local run club had a shoe demo one night for the new torins. I got to run 6miles in them and LOVED THEM. I now own a pair! They fixed the extremely firm heel. These are a great mid shoe

Narrow Toebox But …

I do think the shoe is too narrow, I was also disappointed. But I loosened the laces and wore them a few days and adjusted. Still a good shoe, glad for the cushioning and zero drop, but please do stick to the wideness of the original design. The color is great.

Toe Box Narrow

I work in healthcare and found my shoe with the Torrin 8. The Torrin 9 is very disappointing. I wear a 10 in the Torrin 8. Torrin 9 size 10 my toes touch the end of shoe. Most disappointing is that I ordered a wide and the toebox is narrow. A few months ago I tried the Escalante and had the same issues. I have lost love with Altra due to inconsistent sizing and now narrow toebox.

Narrow

Narrow toe box compared to last version. Disappointed because that’s the one thing I like about Altras. Also not enough cushion. Feet fatigued 15 min into run.

I've Lost My Love For The Torin

I am a long time Altra fan. The Torin has been a staple in my footwear for years. Like all brands, each iteration brings updates to evolve the shoe and the brand. This new release came with so much excitement with it's vibram outsole, P35X foam midsole and sleek look. Unfortunately, for me, these updates didn't do it for me. Rather than making the shoe more "luxurious" as I was told and expecting. I have found a completely different shoe and fit. I have found that not only does the shoe run short. I would recommend sizing up an entire size, not just a half size (as was recommended). The instep has changed and no longer accommodates a insole along with my high instep feet. Not only did I size up an entire size, I went into a men's fit to accommodate my feet. If you have a low instep, you will probably love the fit. Just consider if a half size will be enough if you are a runner. The tongue has also been updated. I have developed sores on my feet from where the tongue is attached and by how in curls under. Normally, I use elastic laces and just slip my feet in and hit the pavement. With the lacing, it's been a little challenging with the particular laces I use. But beyond the laces, the tongue has to be adjusted throughout my run. For me, I wouldn't recommend this shoe for a number of people and more reasons than I have listed. I know many people will love the updates and will find it works wonderful for their feet. I am happy for those of you who love it and add it into your rotation. For me, it's time to seek out a new shoe and possibly a new brand. I hope this helps someone else who has struggled with this new iteration.

Why Do They Keep Messing With The Sizing?

I have been wearing a size 8. 5 in Torins since the 4. 5 series. The last two years these shoes keep getting more and more snug in both the toe box, and length and width of the shoe. The 8 series was bad, so I sent it back. I decided to try a wide version of the 9 series this time around, in my size, to see if that would help. Unfortunately, the wide 9 series is tighter in all areas than the normal fit 7 series. I purchased my 3rd pair of the 7 series and am sending the 9 series back. Please go back to your original sizing.

Not For Me

I love my torin 8. I was excited for the new version. They changed so much and I am open to change but this is something I can’t wear. The toe box does not feel like an original. Even in wide the toe box was tight. I come to altra specifically for their wide toe box but this shoe does not have. The tongue did not work for my high in step and beware this model runs small. This shoe is now short and skinny. The only compliment I can give is the added cushion to the bottom front foot pad.

Downgrade

Altra made its name on a wide toe box and zero drop, so why are you narrowing the toe box? But the heel seems too big as I slide out. The shoe laces are so short. Why?!?!?! Why are you trying to be like other brands, when your differences are what made you great?
