Runs Small

I didn’t get a chance to try out these shoes. I have bought multiple pairs of Altras over the years in different styles and have always gotten the same size. I ordered the same size that I usually get, but these were too short. I felt like like my toes would wear a hole through the top if I tried to go on a run in them. They seemed like a good shoe otherwise, they were light weight and had a good amount of cushion. Unfortunately, I ended up having to send them back.

Shoe Is A Miss For Me

These are my 6th pair of Altra's and my first disappointment. The material feels lower quality including the mesh upper and all aspects of the sole. I believe this shoe is designed to be a snugger fit, which is fine since I have a narrow foot. However, I've come to appreciate the wider toe box from this brand. This shoe almost feels like the cheaply constructed brand that shall remain nameless (think swoosh). Also, not sure why, but when I run in this show my left knee bothers me a bit. Doesn't happen with any other shoes in my rotation right now.

I Love These Shoes!

These shoes are very light and extremely comfortable. They look great - exactly what I wanted!

Great Shoe

I have flat feet! Most shoes pinch my toes or rub my toes together to form callous! The Altra Women Rivera don't! I have bought three pairs and have not been disappointed!

Yes I Would

This is a great shoe, very comfortable shoe with a good width in the toe as I am getting older and my feet are spreading

I Have Bought Multi Pairs Of This Shoe

i am a man with very narrow feet, and have worn women's shoes for about 6-7 years and am very happy with altra sizing. i have many chronic injuries and have been able to find only a few models that work well for me. instinct model 2 and 3. torin 3.5 (loved that shoe!! hope there will be a return of it in some form) and the escalante racer (the base model was too squishy). the everyday shoe worked but the clad did not. and the xt2 work kinda, but not an all day every for me. i tried the rivera without much faith it would work, based on the tread and that it looked like the torin 4 and 5 models with have too much play / too squishy. i was pleasantly surprised that the rivera does indeed work well for me and is stable/firm in the right ways for me. the only thing i don't like about it is the lower toe box volume, other than that it is a wonderful shoe.

I Will Definitely Purchase Another Pair

These are one of the most comfortable running shoes I ever purchased

Great Shoe!

I've loved my Altra trail shoes for years and since I'm running more roads than trails these days I decided to give the Rivera a try. The toe box is slightly smaller than the Olympus, but still roomy enough for my toes to spread out, and I love that the heel is narrower so I don't have any problem with movement in the heel area. The Rivera is slightly less cushion than my other Altras, but still gives a nice soft landing. I also love that these are really lightweight. I would definitely recommend these shoes, especially for people with a narrow heel.

I Love The Rivera! Perfect Shoe Style For My Feet

The Rivera style are the most comfortable shoes I've ever had for workouts, running, training, etc. perfect fit for my narrow heel and thin feet. My feet aren't narrow but my heel is and when I say thin feet I mean the depth of my feet not the width . Most workout shoes that I have bought slide around on my feet making my feet ache. These do not do that. Each person's foot has its own personality so different shoes work for different feet . I have the Navy blue. I am going to get the black and I so wish the Rivera came in gray.

Great Running/walking Shoe - Would Buy Again

The shoe fits GREAT with walking, running and even working around the house. My only complaint is minor and has to do with the laces. Can you make them a bit longer?

Narrow Toe Box

I usually run in the escalantes, but I wanted more cushion. I waited too long to try Torin 4s, and Torin 5 got bad reviews, so I gave the Rivieras a shot. First, the sizing is completely different than the escalantes; I had to buy a 9 in the Rivieras (considered a 9.5 but was worried about heel slipping). Compared to the escalante, the fit is different and not ideal for me. The toe box feels narrower; on long runs it rubs on my toes. In addition, the foot strike feels different. I have a morton's neuroma on my left foot, which is fine in my escalantes normally (even on long runs). However, between the toe box being narrow and the strike; my neuroma ends up getting scrunched and striked on. It flared up after running in these shoes. Overall, they had more cushion than the escalante, but the tradeoffs of small toebox and different foot strike were not worth it to me.

Fell Apart First Time

The first time I wore these was while playing dodgeball. Less than an hour in the bottom padding on them ripped off. I was barely jogging around the gym so no crazy movement or anything was happening. I returned them and am hoping to get another pair that hopefully doesn't fall apart after one wearing.

Not Made Well

These shoes were a huge disappointment. I have purchased 8 pairs of differing styles and this was the worst in terms of too narrow, tongue causes forefoot injuries and comfort zero. I need Altras for the zero drop and wide footbed ; I suffer from it all, Morton's neuromas, sesamoids and metatarsal problems, topped off by arthritis. Over the past year I am finding Altra quality to be inconsistent and poor as new models come out. Rivera, Torin 4,4.5, and older versions of many other styles like superior, Timp and lone peak are great, , these are terrible for me. Now I roam sportswear sites searching for older models still in stock to keep on hand

You Made A Believer Out Of Me

These shoes are exactly what I've been searching for. As I'm getting further away from my 20s my body feels my runs more. With these shoes there's just enough cushion for my, achem, not so young joints. I'm in love!

Color Beautiful But Some Flaws

This shoe was recommended to me because I am just starting out jogging and I have a wide foot. Love the look of this shoe, it is light, the color is beautiful, and the toe area is nice and roomy. The reviews recommended ordering a half size up - glad I did, otherwise the toe would be too short! Reviews also said that the tongue is too narrow - it is. Not sure I would order the Riveria again. But if you have a narrow instep, I would go for it.
