I Can't Stop Wearing Them

I purchased the wide Lone Peak 5's and they are the greatest shoes I've ever worn! Right out of the box, the wide width fit my foot and with arch support, I hiked for 3 months straight (15-30 miles daily with a backpack) and they were the best. The tread does wear out quickly, but that's a problem with Altra shoes that they just can't seem to fix. The tread was fantastic - I had great traction on steep slopes and over rocky terrain, so it's sad it wore out within a month (about 400 miles). DO NOT PURCHASE THE LONE PEAK 6 AS A REPLACEMENT. I am so disappointed that they made the wide LESS WIDE, the toe box smaller, volume smaller, just terrible. The Lone Peak 5's have high volume so you don't lose circulation from the shoe pressing down on the top of your foot, and the 5's are actually wide for those of us who have actually wide feet (I'm talking 2E or 4E if I can find it). If I could buy 10 pairs of these I would. I still wear these shoes despite giant holes in the sides and zero tread. They are insanely comfortable and I will continue to wear them and get rid of the stupid 6's.

Beware! They Feel Great.. But

I am NOT a climber nor a runner. I am a 61 yr old that can't find a shoe that makes my foot FEEL GOOD! Until... these. I could walk all day in these shoes, NEW! You do have to get the laces juuust right, but then? Amazing! Toe box feels wonderful, the angle my foot sits perfectly, my back is happy, my energy level is great! But...$130 for less than 4 months of NON-DAILY wear before the outside sole comes away from the shoe and I nearly fall down a set of brick steps? NOPE! These shoes LOOK NEW! WHAT in the world? I'm sorry folks, I really do love them, but I can not afford to throw away money like that... I can only hope that this is a glitch of craftmanship on one pair of shoes, and I'm grateful I did catch myself...but, I truly hope this doesn't happen to someone hiking the AT and they take a fall. Just a HEADS UP folks! Be safe and enjoy the wonderment of the outdoors!

Definitely Recommend For Wide Feet

Love these shoes. Best shoes I've had in a long time. Lots of toe room...lots and I have wide feet! Plenty of room for my orthotics and toe spacers for bunions.

Altra Lone Peak Vs. Topo Mountain Racer

I bought these shoes to replace my Topo shoes. First, the heel is a little big. Topo fits the heel better. Second, the cushioning is not as plush as Topo. Third, when I walk in these, there is a little constriction on the top of the foot, above the instep. All that being said, I will give these shoes a try and see how they do in the long run...no pun intended. I just got them this past week and they arrived quickly. The plum color is nice. I use these shoes for the outdoor fitness class I teach, even in January. My "go to" running shoes are Altra Torins, which I like better than Topo's running shoes.

Wanted To Love, But Couldn't

I truly wanted to love this pair of shoes, but with the poor quality compared to price (in my opinion), the awkwardness of walking in the shoe because im not used to the wide toe box,, and the shoe not fitting properly, I will be returning.

Thank You For This Shoe!

This is my second pair--purchased the dark blue this time. I was disappointed that the burgundy color was altered to have a bright color on the base of the shoe--I preferred the darker gray and black for the base and tread. I wore the first pair for work for the past 2 years and 5 days a week and they are still as comfortable as the first day! I had worn Dansko clogs for work for 20 years and needed to switch due to fore-foot pain, back pain, and possible plantar issues---but no more with the Altra shoes! I came across the brand serendipitously---I noticed the wider front foot and different shape of the shoe someone was wearing and asked him about his shoes---he was happy to tell me and explain why he liked them. It was more than a year before I made a purchase. There aren't any retailers close to me that sell the brand and I finally took a chance and purchased online---so happy I did. A co-worker even purchased a pair after she noticed mine and also loved them. I appreciate the color selection to include darker colors with darker soles--I don't prefer bright flashy colors and HATE the white Neoprene/foam soles on most of the popular brands. Thank you for this unique shoe! Worth every dollar!

Definitely Recommend For Anyone With Wide Feet!

I have had three neuroma surgeries on my right foot and another neuroma is growing. My doctor recommended these shoes and I took a chance. I was pleasantly surprised as they were just what my foot needs and I can exercise again without pain. I have an extremely wide foot and these are the only sneakers I have found that have room in the width. Very pleased!

Foot Love!

I love my Lone Peak 5's. They are THE MOST COMFORTABLE shoe I have ever owned. Period. I had spent decades in shoes that forced my toes to push against each other. During all that time, the kindest thing I could do for my feet was remove my shoes ASAP. But when I purchased the Lone Peak, my life literally changed. For the first time, my toes have enough room that the top of the shoe is not bearing down on them. The foot shaped width allows my toes to splay and for each toe to have its' own place in the toe box. Yes, I have many other pairs of shoes. But, since I first put on my Lone Peaks; I cannot ask my feet to wear anything other than these wonderful shoes. One final thought. The material used in my LPs is superb. Previously, i was having to purchase shoes that have a stretchy, knit-like material across the toe box. I guess manufacturers felt that the stretchy knit fabric would allow feet like mine more room and they would not have to manufacture a separate model shoe. This type solution seemed like a cheap way to try to create a shoe that would stretch to fit more people's feet--rather than creating a shoe especially designed for a specific foot type --one that needs both width and volume! THANK YOU, ALTRA! diane h.

I Would Buy This Product Again

I am a shoe size 8.5 to 9. I use this footwear for day hiking. I ordered a size larger 10 wide width as I need to insert a pair of orthotics into them & wear merino wool socks. Never had issues with my feet since wearing the Altra Lone Peaks. Also lots of room in the toe box of the shoe which I love. My daughter who recommended the Lone Peaks is a thru hiker & had success with them as well.

I Am Buying This Products Again!!! Love It!!!!

I wear this every day for running errands, walking with my Lab, working in yard. I had knee replacement 4 months ago, I wore it to work today! Will order a pair in black to look professional.

Best Feelings Show I've Worn In A While

This shoe is awesome- I have Morton's Neuromas and the wide toe box is a lifesaver for me. The only reason this show has 4 stars instead of 5 for me is that it could use a little more cushion/ padding.

Yes

Love these shoes! Bought them for hiking and bougjt another pair for work. I am on my feet all day and they really help my aching feet

To Big In The Toe Box

Above the toes area got all bunched up Every-time I took a step, to much material there or maybe I should ordered a size down.

Great Trail Shoe With Minimal Cushion

Not enough cushion for my needs. Nice looking shoe.

Best Shoe So Far

I've been a runner all my life. Someone recommended these to help with my knees. They have been the best shoe I've ever owned. I can't believe it took me so long to find them.
