I’ve had the 5,6 and 7. Dreading the new iteration each year. These 8s have held up better than the 3 previous models. Purchased in 11/2026. I’ve put about 250 miles and they have no damage other than typical sole wear. My only compliant is the laces get worse each year and these are by far the worst. Triple knots and still coming untied. Way too long for the normal width. I guess it’s time to invest in after market laces.

Overall really good fit. Just make sure you use a heel lock to avoid getting blisters for the first few runs.

I've worn the Torin since the 4. I loved the 4, 6, and 7! The toe box on these is just too narrow. The soles are so much narrower when you compare them. I can feel the outside of my pinky toe on the inside of the toe box. I've never needed to wear a wide shoe. Why not stick to what you are known for? Also, these do NOT feel like a zero-drop shoe anymore. The padding in the heel makes it feel like I'm wearing a more traditional shoe. And from reading the reviews of the Torin 9s, I'm not hopeful Altra will go back to what made them- zero drop and a wide toe box- and why I wore them for so many years.

The Altra Torin is hands-down one of the most comfortable road running shoes I’ve worn. The wide footbed gives my toes the exact room they need to spread naturally, eliminating any pinch points or hot spots. The cushioning hits the sweet spot—it offers a great pop and bounce that keeps my legs feeling fresh without sacrificing stability or road feel. I feel balanced, secure, and in total control on every step. It’s an easy 5-star pick for anyone looking for zero-drop comfort and a generous, foot-shaped fit.

I had multiple pairs of the Torin 7. . . I wore them everywhere. I was worried I wouldn't like the Torin 8, but they are just as comfortable. I now have multiple pairs of the 8. Comfort continues. So glad I found Altras!

This has been my first experience with the Altra brand, and I have gone on runs (around 2miles at a time) and have had no issues! They have not just helped my knees and ankles after running, but my feet do not ache after working out or running in them. I wear them to work when I am allowed to, and never want to take them off! An amazing experience with this brand and am excited to try out their other products. The wide toe box is truly one of a kind and is something I can’t go without anymore!!!

My personal experience only: I've tried Hokas (comfortable, but ugly and wear out quickly) and On Clouds (would never buy that brand again - wear out even quicker, bad quality, not comfortable), and these feel and perform better than both of those brands.

I have owned every model of Torin since 3. 5. The 4. 5 were my favorites, and the plush 5's were pretty good as well. But then they took all the padding out of the tongue, and made them less wide. Why, Altra?! you're a wide toebox company, and it made me crazy they were trying to make them look more like Reebok or Nike. The Torin 8 finally addresses the issues that have kept me from buying the six and the seven. I owned them and promptly returned them. These are amazing, thanks for getting back to what you built the company on. Comfortable shoes, wider toe box.

Great shoe. It seems exactly like the other versions of the Torin to me but definitely runs a size small. I still wear a 16 in the Lone Peak, but need a 17 in this version of the Torin.

These shoes started out great, but after just 3. 5 months of use, the inner heal is wearing down already. This has happened to me now in Paradigm 7, VO 2, Fwd Via, and now Torin 8. I wish Altra would fix this bc I love their shoes, but they’re way too expensive for shoes that start breaking down after a few months.

I love the Torin 8. I have 1 pair of Torin 7s, and I am on my second pair of Torin 8s. First pair of 8s died around 320 miles. Currently have 95 miles on my second pair. Mine break in fully at 50 miles. They are durable and have a reliable feel. I use them for daily runners. They breathe decently and dry well. My only wish is that they had the same upper mesh as the Torin 7. The 8s have a plush like upper that seem to hold more heat. This is my only complaint being in the south east Texas heat. But perfect for dry winter miles. The Torin 8 is my go to for consistent daily miles. I run arpund 5 hours a week. 6 foot tall. 225lbs. Hardball is majority of my miles.

These are my first Altra shoes. I got into long distance running late last year and found that my feet would be in pain after 10+ miles of running. My foot doctor recommend wider toe box shoes alongside orthodox that could support my feet. The orthodox fit great in these and my toes feel like they can display themselves more naturally. I found that these shoes are great for easy to mid runs (3-8 miles). Walking in them are no problem. I did do a half-marathon in them and found that my feet and ankles were starting to bother me around mile 10-11. That makes sense considering these are not really meant for race day. These are great if you want a shoe that you can have in your rotation of running shoes, have a job that has you on and off your feet, or a casual shoe that you can wear around town.
Wide is good
My husband has a very wide foot and this is the first shoe that he has found that fits comfortably

My first pair of "serious" running shoes were my Torin 8's that I bought about a year ago. After ~600 miles they're showing their age, and I'm feeling it. But I was delighted to see they're on sale! Looking forward to seeing how they felt fresh out of the box! Speaking of boxes, as I am another duck footed individual, these are excellent for my foot shape. I've run 2 half marathons, and multiple 10K's in these with virtually no blisters.

Avoid at all costs as this years design is terrible. It is a massive step back in quality, comfort, and performance. Within the first mile I was getting soreness on my heels with redness. This will be my 15th pair of Torin shoes and these are nothing like what built this brand. Very disappointed as it feels like bricks on your feet with no response or cushion. I’m not sure how these made it out of quality control. Hopefully Altra wakes up and looks at what made this product great.
