Excellent Cushion And Support

I really love the Altra shape and expanded toe box. Excellent cushion and support. I'm tempted to give it 5 Stars -- but I'll reserve that until I can test the durability and longevity of the shoe.

Torin 8 At 100 Miles

The shoes are great, comfortable, have held up well so far. Occasionally, the ankle cutout will rub on the base of my left ankle. No complaints here!

Pretty Comfortable, Like The Zero

Pretty comfortable, like the zero drop. I got them for work where I am standing on hard floors for long hours.

Great Support And Stability

Fit like gloves, actually stylish and supportive. Use as walking and everyday wear. Will buy again in wide widths.

Great Daily Training/long/easy/recovery Run Shoe

I really like this shoe for recovery run/long run days. I alternate between this and the Escalante racer 2 and the Escalante 4. I’ve been loving the foot shape and zero drop style for daily use and feel. I didn’t realize how much the other shoes I have been wearing all my life constricted my toes. It’s been a wonderful experience getting into this lineup. Very happy with the experience!

Reliable Comfort

I choose to run in Altras primarily for the roomy toe box. These shoes have good cushioning when pounding the pavement mile after mile. I would say the fit is pretty true to size

I Have About 100 Miles

I have about 100 miles on these and they are a good daily trainer. Happy with the cushioning and overall fit. My mid-foot floats a little, but with a little extra lace adjustment it improves.

Comfortable For Miles

I’ve worn my Torin 8’s for about 100 miles running on the road. These are my first Altras. At first I was concerned about the wide toe box but I love them. The toe box is wide but my feet are not sliding around. After running a half marathon in them, I had no discomfort at all. The break in period was minimal and I was taking them out for 3-5 mile runs straight out of the box. Great running shoes.

Skeptic At First

I’ve had the 5,6 and 7. Dreading the new iteration each year. These 8s have held up better than the 3 previous models. Purchased in 11/2026. I’ve put about 250 miles and they have no damage other than typical sole wear. My only compliant is the laces get worse each year and these are by far the worst. Triple knots and still coming untied. Way too long for the normal width. I guess it’s time to invest in after market laces.

Solid Trainer, Make Sure You Use Your Heel Locks

Overall really good fit. Just make sure you use a heel lock to avoid getting blisters for the first few runs.

Why Are You Ruining This Shoe?

I've worn the Torin since the 4. I loved the 4, 6, and 7! The toe box on these is just too narrow. The soles are so much narrower when you compare them. I can feel the outside of my pinky toe on the inside of the toe box. I've never needed to wear a wide shoe. Why not stick to what you are known for? Also, these do NOT feel like a zero-drop shoe anymore. The padding in the heel makes it feel like I'm wearing a more traditional shoe. And from reading the reviews of the Torin 9s, I'm not hopeful Altra will go back to what made them- zero drop and a wide toe box- and why I wore them for so many years.

Continued Comfort

I had multiple pairs of the Torin 7. . . I wore them everywhere. I was worried I wouldn't like the Torin 8, but they are just as comfortable. I now have multiple pairs of the 8. Comfort continues. So glad I found Altras!

Amazing Shoe!

This has been my first experience with the Altra brand, and I have gone on runs (around 2miles at a time) and have had no issues! They have not just helped my knees and ankles after running, but my feet do not ache after working out or running in them. I wear them to work when I am allowed to, and never want to take them off! An amazing experience with this brand and am excited to try out their other products. The wide toe box is truly one of a kind and is something I can’t go without anymore!!!

My personal experience only: I've tried Hokas (comfortable, but ugly and wear out quickly) and On Clouds (would never buy that brand again - wear out even quicker, bad quality, not comfortable), and these feel and perform better than both of those brands.
