Used in Florida summers and rainy days, feet stay dry relatively hotter than non-gtx. laces stay tight, and the traction is as expected. zero drop & gtx = winning combo. after about 10 hours it started to feel like I was wearing plastic bags on my feet in terms of heat retention. but that's expected for any gtx boot. weather was around 90 feels like 100, and then the last hour had torrential downpour, feet stayed dry.

I purchased these boots in Sheridan, Wyoming for a 2 day backpacking trip, have been wearing the various lone peak shoes and boots for a few years and figured i would try some extra cushion, cushion is nice on these but the ankle pain is unbearable i suffered through the entire 11 mile hike with my ankles getting chewed up by the cut of the boot.

Loved everything about this boot! From the moment my foot went in, to the 70 plus miles across Sequoia National Park to the summit of Mt. Whitney they saw me through every step of the way. Thanks for a great product. Paul Sequoia Tours

Unwearable. Constructed so parts are sewn together in a ridge which digs into ankles. Not wearing these.

High expectations and while I love the wide toe box the ankle flaw is real; it’s painful. Then after a short 5 miler the toe is already coming apart. Disappointing

These are my 5th pair of Altra’s and i couldn't be more disappointed. They dont fit like the other pairs and there is considerable pain in the ankle. I have lost confidence in a brand I used to trust,

These are comfortable everywhere except around the ankles. This is a serious design flaw that I’m now seeing others describing. It’s unfortunate because these would otherwise be the best hiking boots I’ve had in years. However, the ankle issue makes them unwearable for long days on trail. Disappointing!

I have had many Altras (all Lone Peaks) but needed something more weather proof than the badly-named ALL-WTHR (doesn't take much to get soaked feet in those). I thought these would do the trick, but had to return them when I immediately noticed the same pain others have described in several reviews. The tongue is too wide and rubs against the ankle! My question to Altra: whenever someone points out this design flaw in their review, you respond that you take all reviews seriously and that the problem will be corrected in the future. Well, when I look through the reviews, this issue has been brought to your attention a long time ago (1-2 years?) When exactly are you going to fix this boot? As far as I know, this is the only waterproof model you carry and I'd really like to give it another try since everything else about this boot is an improvement over the All-WTHR. Give us a time-frame by which to check back!

I have worn these a few times. I like them so far. Very comfortable and my bunion has plenty of room. I haven't tested the waterproof part of it yet but will next time I'm on a true backpacking trip.

1st I am a heavy set man my timp hiker gtx was bought for work they're light but very comfortable and water proof I really like these boots not too much cushion just enough great traction I've worn these almost every day M/F the heel of the soles are already breaking down I really hate that but very doubtful I will get 2 full months of use out of them before the start hurting my feet from the sole breakdown was really in hopes of a wonderful pair of boots yes I would recommend these boots to a non heavy weight person in a heart beat

I loved the comfort and fit of this boot when I first got it. It felt great on the foot and I could wear it all day. However the first day I did boot things wearing it (light hiking) the toe cap and sole separated. I returned it to Altra within the window and it took WEEKS to get my refund. Now I really want to try the new Olympus hiker as I still haven't found a zero drop hiker to meet my needs, but due to my experience with the Timp hiker I'm worried that the Olympus will not hold up to even light hiking. It really is a shame, as there are Altra running shoes I want to try as well, but I am worried to after the quality (or lack there of) of the Timp. I would not buy this boot again though, even though it felt incredible on my foot.

I have been hiking in Lone Peaks, buy they were not providing the cushion that I needed. I tried the Olympus, but they run small and ended up losing the skin and nail off one of my toes. I recently completed a 300 mile section hike of the AT and also did about 50 trail miles in the shoes to prep. I went across a lot of rock surfaces in NJ, NY, CT, and MA. These shoes served me well and I am glad that they are available, especially in the size (14) that I need. Thank you Altra for making this product and having the GoreTex version available.

Mulit 10+ mile hikes in snow with gaiters and my feet were soaked. Should not advertise as waterproof, more water resistant than anything else. I have huge feet, great fit and very comfy otherwise.

I am a LEO & just bought a pair of these. I love them. My only comment is that they are loud. I get they are hiking boots but I wish they could be made with a quieter sole for law enforcement purposes
