What Quality Issue?

I'm 300 miles into my first pair. Worn almost exclusively off trail (off piste) in the Sierra. That means lots of rock hopping, lots of rough terrain, climbing some of the most demanding passes in the Sierra. The Altra Olympus 275 combined the comfort of the regular Olympus series with the tenacity and connectedness of the Timps. Masterclass shoe. Great on trail and stellar off. . . including nice grip and side hilling. Yes, there is minor separation between the sole and the upper but its cosmetic and doesnt affect function. My only complaint is they're out of stock.

So Far So Good

I've only worn these for 24 miles so far. I've used them for running on the trail. The anatomic toe box is really great; my toes don't keep smashing into the front on the downhills. The grip feels really good. The shoe doesn't feel sloppy, but it is not super technical either. I think they should have just completed the full heel for a more secure fit and then added a full gaiter/sleeve/sock/ instead of doing the half half. . . . . I'll update this after I put 100 miles on it.

Falling Apart After 50 Miles.

Been a big fan of altra and owning 3 pairs over the years I’ve always wanting to get these for a while and finally pulled the trigger. When I got them I noticed they were separating a little bit but figured I’d add a little bit of shoe glue. That didn’t last. Now they’re coming apart in a couple other places. It’s unfortunate because I was super excited to get these. The fits great thought. Should have went with the Olympus 7 🤦🏻‍♂️ after reading other people complaining about the same issue with these.

Super Comfortable!!

I really like these for the trail running that I do. These are probably my 12th pair of Altras and the best yet!!

Great Trail Shoe

Love this shoe. Comfy and has great grip for both trail running and casual hikes. Could wear it all day.

Great Stability But There's A Couple Problems

This shoe fits fine and provides good stability. Here are the beefs I have with it: * The tongue rubs my ankle raw but it's not as bad as the tongue on the escalantes 5. . . Longer socks could solve the problem but I kinda don't wanna * Sometimes when walking, the shoe bends at the tip of my baby toe pinching it. Not an issue when running though * The inside of the bottom heel often whacks my opposite ankle making it feel bruised. I have not had this issue with Experience Flows or Escalate 4s The color choices are nice though

Great Shoes

This is my 4th pair of Altra shoes. They have all been great! These Olympus 275 shoes feel the best so far. The only thing I don’t like is the day I received them (7/17/2026) I looked on the Altra website and saw that the Olympus 275 shoes had been reduced in price by 20%, only three days after I had ordered them. That is just my luck! What is up with that?

My New Favorite Trail Shoe

I have logged 250 miles on these shoes in rocky and technical New England mountain terrain, and I am very impressed. The fit, cushion, and flexibility is extremely comfortable. The grip is better than I have experienced with any other shoes. Most importantly, the Matryx upper is extremely durable and breathable. My shoes have encountered many sharp rocks and roots, and there is no damage to the upper. Also, the durability of the shoe has been excellent.

Incredibly Durable Super Comfortable Hiking Shoe

I switched to the 275 from the Olympus 6 due to the lighter weight and the addition of the fabric that acts like a gator to prevent rocks and debris from coming in shoe. My wife and I just completed the Camino Frances with these shoes (both of us wore the 275). My wife's shoes look like they have hardly been used and although mine are dirty, they are still in incredible shape as well. We decided to order new 275's to be delivered to us in Leon, Spain. I was a bit worried that I might need a break-in period but no break in period for us was needed at all! I do lace my shoes a bit different as I skip the first eye lace to provide a bit more room in the upper as I use Sole inserts. The Vibram sole lasted well and worked perfectly providing the necessary grip and comfort on long days. The shoes in the picture have about 300 miles on them and although they need a cleaning, they lasted very well with little wear shown. The extra fabric Altra added to the heal was also extremely comfortable and wore very well and did it's job well in keeping debris out of the shoe. I give these shoes a 5 out of 5 rating without any hesitation.

Short Life

Unfortunately, these wore a hole inside the heel within only 40 miles. Prior to this, they were extrmely comfortable and fit great. Will continue my search for a perfect shoe for me.

Fantastic For Long Hikes

The Olympus 275 was the first pair of Altras I tried…when I put them on it was as if the clouds parted, angels sang, and shafts of light shone down upon my feet! Not even joking…the level of comfort was pretty amazing. Recently hiked the West Highland Way in 4 days (96 miles)…I used both the Olympus 275s and the Timpe 5 Gortex for anticipated rain and wetter sections of the trail. Both performed flawlessly but I do prefer the fit of the 275s over the Timpe. Almost all of my co-hikers suffered blisters…but I had all of the toe splay room in my shoe selection and really had no issues. I also really appreciated the Vibram Megagrip soles…they stuck to everything!

Bummed

I’ve ran in many pairs of previous versions of the Olympus and had great success. I run in very technical and rocky terrain, so cushion is a must. These initially felt absolutely amazing out of the box and I was very excited to have found another shoe to add to the quiver. They felt similar but different enough, in a good way, to the regular Olympus. I’m not sure exactly how or why, they still seem in good condition, but, after 150 miles, they felt completely dead and destroyed. On the normal Olympus, I usually get somewhere around 400-500 miles out of a pair before the terrain I run on destroys them. It’s a real bummer, I had very high hopes for these especially for how well they initially felt in the first 100 miles.
