Great Daily Trainer
I have been using these shoes as my daily trainer as I train for a half marathon this coming fall. It has been great for easy runs, recovery runs, speed sessions, and even some of the shorter long runs as I add mileage. The foot shape toe box is great for my feet and will likely always have a place in my shoe rotation. Altra's are a great shoe but really do require a chance to try them on due to the different shape and fit which is the only thing that holds me from recommending to all.

Destroyed Platform From The Experience Flow 2 To 3
When you have a good thing going, don't alter it too much. Well, Altra completely destroyed this shoe. It has less cushioning and the ride is literally dead. If you have any bodyweight, your Achilles are going to pay the price. It's not an issue of zero drop. 4mm, or anything else. The shoe literally hits the ground like it's dead. The ground reactive forces are no longer absorbed by the shoe (this is my field so I know a bit about this topic).
Cushioning was most certainly stripped out of this shoe from the prior version. It's more than noticeable.
They modified the heel and destroyed it. I'm not being gentle with this criticism for a reason. The heel counter is nothing like it was. If you like the Flow 2, you will not like this version. It's mush.
It may be a 4mm but you sink so much into the heel that it may as well be 0mm.
Avoid this shoe at all costs. The Experience Flow 2 was great. This shoe is not simply the next model in the line. This show is entirely different and poorly made.

Added The Experience Flow To My Rotation.
Added the Experience Flow to my shoe rotation. Like the easy movement and not overly soft feel.

Great Shoe
This is an excellent mid distance shoe for sure. Some times with Altra show you never know how long they are going to last before they start wearing out. After the first 100 miles they seem to be holding up pretty good. If you like the brand then you are going to love these shoes.

Great Running Shoe. Toe Box
Great running shoe. Toe box gives plenty of room, and they are light for the long runs.

Great Lite Walker
These shoes are quite comfortable. They have an ample toe box and moderate cushion. We'll see about durability. So far really like them as an all around walker (don't run anymore)

Best Comfy Shoe To Wear For All Day Wear
The shoe is very comfry with enough space around toe. Perfect cushion for walking all day around, not too much plushy or not so much, but perfect! I would recommend this product.

Great Shoe For Light Runs!
I am newer to running and these seem to be a great shoe for me (a beginner). The longer runs I've done, my feet have hurt a bit but everything under 10 miles I've felt great. The width is amazing and how lightweight they are. A little more rocker would be nice, would like to try the Torin 8 next, but definitely recommend you check out the Experience Flow 3!

Good For Everyday. . . But. . .
I do like this shoe. I wear it everyday to work and they are good. I got these shoes also because I had the original Experience Wilds and loved them for everything including rucking in pavement. I was told these were the same shoe except a road version so these would be better for rucking.
They are not. I just traveled to Seattle wearing them and rucking everywhere with a 20# pack and they did not do well and they felt to almost flatten out with the extra weight. For day to day work and around my office & some light walking they were great. Just not for rucking.

Maximum Comfort
I have worn these shoes as my daily wear and walking shoes for roughly 4 months and have been very impressed with the support and drop level that they provide. At 4 mm, they give me enough support to be comfortable walking but aren't so aggressive that I get sore. The foam is very comfortable, albeit not the most durable. That being said, the support has held up during this time of heavy use, and the comfort is excellent; these are a perfect intermediate shoe for those wanting to get closer to zero drop and be introduced to shoes with a wide toe box.

Redesigned
Shoe is now narrower in the mid to fore foot noticeably compared to prior shoes. Feels like a deviation from the Altra ethos and can not recommend this shoe if you were looking for the more "classic" Altra experience from this shoe.

Not Roomy Enough
This is a nice looking shoe with good cushioning, but it isn't working for me. I've loved Altra shoes for several years now, partly because of the roomy toevbox. This shoe's toebox is not roomy enough for me, though. Ended up with two black toenails, unfortunately. Looking for another model because I trust this brand, but I'm sad this one didnb't work out.

Bad Heel
First time wearing Altras. I was looking for a wider toe box that’s wasn’t a true wide shoe. Wore them for a day and the heel doesn’t seat properly it slips no matter what lace pattern I tried. It’s almost as if it’s not contoured correctly to support the heel. It will slip and there is no fix. First and last time customer all in one day for me.

Pain → Performance
I switched into the Altra Experience Flow 3 early this past track season, and I can confidently say this shoe completely transformed my running career. After three years of running — two seasons of track and now heading into my third year of cross‑country — I’ve never experienced a shoe that delivers this level of comfort, stability, and performance.
Before Altra, I was running in Nike and constantly dealing with knee pain, toe cramming, and instability, especially during and after runs. As someone with flat feet, I always felt like I was fighting my shoes instead of running naturally. The Experience Flow 3 ended all of that immediately.
The FootShape™ fit finally gave my toes room to splay, eliminating the cramped feeling I used to get. The rocker geometry makes every stride feel smooth and efficient, and the cushioning hits the perfect balance between soft and responsive. For the first time, I felt stable, supported, and completely in control of my stride.
This shoe didn’t just improve my comfort — it changed my confidence. It made running enjoyable again. I’m now fully transitioned to Altra because their superior quality and design genuinely make a difference, and the Experience Flow 3 is the shoe that proved it.
I’m currently using them for cross‑country and plan on putting many more enjoyable miles into them. If you’re dealing with pain, instability, or flat‑foot issues, this shoe isn’t just an upgrade — it’s a breakthrough.
Highly recommend.
