Did Not Last Long

Lasted about 2 months before the sole started to peel off the back of the shoe

Love These Shoes

I've owned many generations of the Lone Peak and two of the Solstice. I'm new to the Escalante but pleasantly surprised at how much I like them. Not a huge runner so can't offer technical feedback, but they fit well with the original Altra fit and are comfortable. My only complaint is that the laces are too short (which is strange because they are the same length as the laces on the LP and the shoes have the same number of holes for laces) -- so I had to buy new laces.

Glad They Were On Sale

I had been wearing barefoot shoes for 8 months but wasn’t feeling any benefits so decided to go back to zero drop and try Altra as I had heard so many good things from people. I was excited to open the box the day they arrived but disappointed when I opened it and they were more like a bluish grey than black. I wish I had read the reviews about that. Either way, I decided not to make a fuss and keep them. I put them on and they felt great! My feet hadn’t felt that kind of cushion for a while and thought I had found my new shoes for my busy job. The fit felt true to size without any issues. Unfortunately after wearing these shoes for several weeks by big toes are sore and achy, it feels like there is enough room when I put them on but as I go about my day there must be something about the fit that doesn’t like my feet. I consider myself to have normal shaped feet and toes, I keep my toenails trimmed and don’t have this issue with any of my other shoes. Unfortunately I’ll have to keep these for only occasional use which I guess is ok since the color looks weird with my black scrubs.

I’m Hard To Fit With A Wide Toe Box & High Instep!

I LOVED the fit. I’m 74 wear a size 10 wide and been having trouble getting a shoe that fits, is comfortable, & doesn’t rub the top of my foot. I started CrossFit about 10 years ago and tried every shoe brand imaginable. None fit my toe box!! Two years ago my daughter told me to try Altra and I’ll never go back to losing my big toe nails because the shoe is too narrow. I have multiple pairs in different colors. I love that my toes feel free to wiggle and the shoe material lets my feet feel free!!

Great For Working On My Feet All Day

This is my second time ordering the escalante 4, because I enjoyed my first pair so much. I wear them as sneakers to work in, and I have a job where I am standing and walking around all day. They are true to size, but I do feel as though the midfoot is very narrow. With the Torin’s that I wear, I order a wide size to offset this. But the escalante’s don’t have a wide option so I just deal with it. Because I just wear them to work, not run or exercise, I feel as though it’s okay. For these shoes to be perfect, I do wish they were a little less narrow so I could take better advantage of the wide toe box. I do not typically wear wide shoes, so I feel like this narrow shoe trend gets carried across the Altra models that I have worn.

Heel Blisters

These are my current favorite running shoe and I’ve had 3 pairs already but each time, the heel cup wear out and rips causing blisters and needing to get a new pair when I’ve barely hit 200 miles in them. Hoping the next version a dresses this and makes the liner thicker

Disappointed

I used to love Altras, but they have gotten waaaay too narrow for a "natural toe box" shoe. Toes are very squished in these, so I won't keep wearing them, but the cushioning is nice.

Don’t Last Long

I initially really liked these (other than the short laces), but after less than a year of wear, the bottom of the shoe is already extremely worn down and the fabric at the heel has holes. I wear them walking and sometimes weight lifting. For the price, I would have expected them to last longer. I don’t think I’ll be back for the Escalantes. I don’t understand how my Lone Peaks have lasted so long, but these wore out in less than a year. :(

These Shoes Are Such A

These shoes are such a good zero drop shoe. I love using these for quick walks and grocery runs. These are perfect with the wide toe box as well! Love the Escalantes

Gifted From My Daughter, Only Worn Once Fell Apart

My daughter gifted me these shoes, as she’s hoping to get me running again. I have only worn twice, and already the bottom of shoes is falling off! These were not cheap for her to purchase, and I don’t want to embarrass her by telling her how horrible the quality is, and why I cannot wear anymore. It’s like the rubber soles shrunk and the black rubber no longer lives up, it’s baffling! Quality control is certainly lacking.

Comfortable But Needs Longer Laces

Very comfortable for walking and daily activities. Width at toe box is great; however laces aren't long enough to tie a decent bow without cinching too tightly across instep.

What A Disappointment

What happened to the wide toe box?? Not only does the shoe press on my outer toes, but I can’t lift my toes at all. The fabric is cheap and scratchy, and something in the heel box is irritating my Achilles. A comfortable well cushioned sole is supposed to be a hallmark of Altras, but I feel like I’m walking on a board. I’ve been wearing Altras for ten years and am so disappointed.

Shoelaces

I’ve purchased four pair of these in last two years. Is Altra trying to save money with shorter and shorter shoelaces?

Way Too Narrow

I took a break from Altras for a while and decided to come back to this…and was reminded why I stopped wearing them in the first place. Way too narrow (all over) for a “natural” toe box shoe, and I don’t have a wide foot. Nice cushioning, just wish they actually gave my toes some room laterally to truly allow for more natural foot movement.
