JOIN FLICKR AND PUBLIC LANDS IN THE WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY DAY PHOTO CONTEST!

We exist to enable every community to get outside, explore, and push boundaries while protecting our public lands. This includes the physical experiences of the outdoors as well as the creative, emotional, mental and social aspects as well. Whether it’s for work as a professional photographer or for enjoyment as a hobby, photography is a fantastic way to experience the outdoors. This year, we’re stoked to partner with our friends at Flickr to celebrate World photography day on August 19th. Flickr hosts the largest community of photographers in the world by helping people organize and share their photos and videos.

Submissions open August 19th with the opportunity to compete in FIVE different outdoor-themed categories – and the winner of each category will win some epic Public Lands prizes!

We hope this will be the most exciting and inspiring World Photography Day contest yet!
 

The categories:
 

• Seasons in the Wilderness (WPD24People): Show us your view of the world at every time of year. This is the category for your aerial, landscapes, astrophotography, weather shots and more. 
• Lives in the Open (WPD24People): Show us how your favorite subjects engage with the world around them. This is your category for portraiture, fashion, wedding, travel, street and documentary photography.
• Wildlife and Their Habitats (WPD24Animals): Indoors or out, show us your world of wildlife. This category is focused on wildlife, pets, and insects in their natural habitats–that includes your backyard!
• Patterns in Nature (WPD24Abstract): Bring your abstract photography skills to this category. Find inspiration in the patterns on a leaf, the way light is reflected through your window or any other unique abstract moment you capture. 
• Urban Exploration (WPD24Urban): Cities are a part of nature, too! This is the category for your architecture, objects, still life, street scenes, urban landscapes, city life and street art photos.

How to participate:

To get started, join Flickr’s official World Photography Day Contest 2024 group and read through the full contest rules. The contest officially kicks off on August 19th so use the time now to find your winning photos and make sure to tag them with the corresponding tags when adding them to the group photo pool.

The contest will remain open until September 8th, 2024. Winners will be announced the week of September 19th. We are stoked to celebrate World Photography Day with all explorers!
