For a few years now the only socks I run in are Smartwool. Other similar brands pinch my toes together too tight but Smartwool doesn't so I won't even look elsewhere. In previous winters I run with targeted cushion mid crew run socks. I didn't even know this cold weather sock existed until last week when I ordered it. I didn't expect it to actually make a difference but it totally DID! The initial cold top of my foot didn't happen. The occasional cold toes didn't happen. I swear these aren't any thicker than my other Smartwool Targeted Cushion Run socks but somehow they are warmer! My only wish is that they came mid-crew size instead of full crew since I have wide calves and these pinch a tad. I never would have bought a full crew sock if it wasn't the only option, and this is probably why I never noticed the product before.
In the last two days with my new socks I ran a 15k and a 5k in 40F weather. The lowest I tend to run in is 30F but I don't look forward to that temp. With these socks I will look forward to the next cold day because I can't wait to find out if my feet stay warm at that temp, too.
