Bomb Proof

Tent survived a 70mph wind storm in Colorado, really like the layout and interior layout and pouches. Great tent!

Solid Car Camp/basecamp Tent

I wore out one of these. Using it for solo car camping and short back packs to base camps. No heavier than any 4 season tent and quite warm with the high solid nylon walls. Mine was a little compact inside but fine solo. I had a couple who lived in one for a week. He was tall and she was petite. I like the basic stand alone pole system of a dome tent. The fly can be tied to maximize airflow and ventilation. I did buy a Tiger Wall, but I live where I can get "factory" deals and I'll lighten my pack any chance I get, but I was ready to get another one of these and the vestibule!

Blacktail 2

Took it out for a weekend and was very comfortable. Had some unexpected wind and rain and has absolutely no problems at all. Kept bugs out very well. Only complaint is the netting seems to stop too high up so the ventilation doesn’t make its way to the floor very well. Solid purchase either way and I can’t wait to use it again.

Dry In A Howling Storm.

Light, simple to pitch, stays dry. Used it for rented campsite with groundcloth. Small enough to hike with. It's really a good buy. I've usually had cheap Coleman tents. I see the difference now.

I've had this tent for about a month and I've taken it on a backpacking trip and camping trip so far. Both times I was kept completely dry in the rain. I would say this product might be better for a beginner due to the accessible price point and, admittedly, the slightly higher weight. Also, I'm 6,4 and I fit in this tent comfortably.

Great Tent At A Great Price

I picked one of these up on FB and it's been a great tent. It has a super robust floor and general construction. Quick and easy to set up, and I've paired it with the Rapide Tent Floor Pad for maximum comfort. It's definitely not a UL tent so it'll add some weight to your pack but it could easily be the only tent you need. The floor is solid enough to not need a footprint but I recently ordered one in order to have fastfly capabilities and be able to use it without the insert to save weight in the shoulder month when the bugs aren't out.

A Really Great Budget-concious Option.

I bought this to do some backcountry elk hunting in oregon. I am not planning to get more then 8 miles back so the weight is really not a concern to me even though its really not that heavy. Its definitely bigger then I expected as I have purchased cheaper 2-person tents in the past that your head was smooshed into the wall of the tent. Bottom of the tent is a little thin so I do suggest running a tyvek type ground cover underneath of it if you are running any type of sleeping pad. For the price it will hunt and sleep fantastic!

Perfect For Single Or Couple Camping

Used this tent for a cross country car-camping trip. Has everything I need in a tent, and very waterproof. Not the easiest to crawl into repeatedly, but cozy nonetheless.

Great Price

used it in heavy rains in the Olympics and on the Washington Coast so far in September. saw temperatures between 35-65 f. though it's heavier than some it's quite waterproof and the rain fly covers everything very well. being able to enter from either side is super convenient. as an entry level backpacking tent it's great. I didn't use a footprint and stayed pretty dry. for the price it's unbeatable in my opinion. I used to have a higher price slightly lighter one and don't regret getting this one at all after giving that one away.

Great Tent!

Light, compact, easy to set up. I previously used the REI Passage 1 and it was truly a one-person tent. There was not room for me + my dog. The Blacktail 2 offers more space without adding too much weight to my pack

A little bigger than I thought. Which is a plus and minus depending on the situation. Great tent overall.

Perfect Pack Tent For 2!

Big Agnes is one of my favorite brands, based on previous purchases. I was looking specifically for a packable, but not ultralight tent. This tent packs small, fits easily into a 60 liter with much room to spare. Its sturdy and the quality of material and technology is obvious- straight from the box. The tent stakes are upgraded and the poles and zipper components have a professional feel and material. The first night we took it out, it poured rain and we were dry as a bone. The tent is very roomy for a 2 person packable, and fit a Klymit double mattress great.

Great Little Tent

I use this tent for solo car camping trips mainly but could easily be used to back packing. I like having the extra room inside for gear. Sets up easy and goes down quick. Simple tent and exactly what I was looking for.

Beware Beware

I'm a motorcycle traveler and in my 4 years on the road I have gone through as many tents, so I waited to see how this tent would measure up. Well 5 months on the road and one zipper is already failing, we will see how the other zipper fares in the next 6 months, but so far I cannot recommend, it's always the zippers???

A Solid Tent

For: “Blacktail 2“ This tent is fairly identical to other tents in this category. However, there are a few things that I found to be more useful. Tent Poles - That slight bend in the poles actually gives a more spacious level head room along with the middle widening pole. Picture this: you wake in the morning (or night) and your head is pressed against the side of the tent while dressing yourself. That doesn't happen with this tent, unless you bash your head into the tent side of course! It just makes it a little more box shape than its overall crescent one. Rainfly - The tent cover is actually color coordinated, green clips to green clips, gray clips to gray clips. It makes it easier to fasten that thing when it's lights out and you would rather not fiddle through the night second guessing yourself. I'm six feet long and had a couple extra inches both at my head and feet. Good to go. Stakes and tie downs are included and attached respectively.
