Does Their Job!

As a fit kit, each model is design for a specific vehicle or set of vehicles. I purchased the Kit 1340 to fit my new 09 Legacy. The product does what it needs to and fits quite well.. a few unexpected gaps (since the rubber is formed specific to the roof) but nothing to worry about. I will warn anyone with the 1340 fit kit... It is designed for certain Subaru models and is highly specific because these models are vehicles that do not have framing around the windows (rather uncommon). Thule fit kits typically clamp right to the metal roof where the doors close. This kit, however, clamps to the plastic trim where the doors close (since there is no frame). Structurally a this is okay because plastic is reinforced to the vehicle frame, but I point this out because the clamping of the roof racks to the car will cause some indentation in this plastic trim where the metal plastic rests and is tightened. I noticed this only after a test fit, and haven't fully utilized the racks yet to know if it gets worse, but it's something to note if you really care about pristine appearance of this trim when you remove the racks. Otherwise, functions great and have confidence in knowing you are using a product specifically built for your car.

Thule Boxlift 571

I have only 20 inches above open garage door so I could not place the roll up mechanism in the center. I moved it to one end so that the ropes all come from the same direction. I drilled two more holes in each bracket and used bigger hardware. At first I was put off by the hinged pulleys, but they are working just fine. the small diameter shaft required lots of cranking so I slipped a piece of PEX tubing over the shaft to enlarge the diameter. It works really well. As for the rope provided with the kit, it was fine, but I replaced it with some 550 paracord. Overall I'm very pleased with the results.

Great For Boxes And Kayaks!

This is a great item for storing your cargo box when not on the car. Very simple and easy. Works great for kayaks too after a long day of paddling!

Complex Setup But Ultimately A Godsend

I hesitated because of lacklustre reviews on other sites. I agree that the installation instructions are not sufficiently detailed. However, once I found step by step detailed instructions laid out by others (quick internet search) I followed these and after 1 2 hours of work the device works perfectly to suspend my Thule rooftop box in the garage out of the way between uses. I am now considering a second for the kayak.

Love The Box Lift

I love my box lift. The initial installation was a bit tricky and took me several hours. But I did get it installed on the roof of my carport, and after that it has been easy to use. It allows very easy installation of my car go box I simply drive under it and lower it into place. Removal is just as easy. In addition it allows my box to be stored out of the way under the ceiling of my carport. With limited space this is the perfect solution. I highly recommend!

Works Great!!!

We installed this pulley lift system to store our car top box when it's not on the Subaru. It took a little bit of time to install, but it works perfectly. No problems with the rope rewrapping itself, it's balanced and raises the box evenly. I've also used it for our kayak and long pieces of lumber (to get it out of the way during construction). I love this thing and would recommend it to anyone that has stuff they want to raise up off the ground of your garage.

the box is very aero. I have not noticed any decrease in my gas milage.This is my second THule box and the improvment that they have made are great.

Replaced fit kit for my Thule bars with this 1745 kit for Sierra 1500. Easy to install, all parts fit without issue. The only thing I did not like is the brackets go behind the door gaskets for this truck model.
