Used To Be A Merrell Customer...not Anymore
I have always been a Merrell shoe guy, probably purchased over 2 dozen pairs of shoes for both work and home. I am retired military and when I saw these shoes in Coyote, I had to buy them. After less than a week of light use, the mesh material on both shoes began to tear and fray. I reached out, no support or care. Fast forward a couple of weeks and the mesh was all gone. Both shoes have holes where the mesh once was, allowing dirt and other debris into the shoe. Needless to say, I spent good money on the shoes so I kept wearing them. What do you do, throw them in the trash? It has been almost a year and now the toe portion of the rubber sole fell apart, leaving a 1 inch hole in the front of the shoe. Pretty disappointed and after the lack of care from the company for a long time customer, I will never buy another pair of them again. I have never had a problem with Merrell shoes until now. I usually get at least two years out of a pair of shoes in the same conditions, worn every day for 10-12 hours a day. I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for, whether its tires, shoes, or any other high usage product. I did not get what I paid for here and wont be spending another dime with Merrell after this. No support, not a care in the world. I am disappointed enough a year into it that I felt the need to write this. When you find something you like and trust, you stick with it. When that trust is broken, where do you go from here? Save your money on these, they will not last. I am aware that the shoes are not clean and pristine as I normally keep mine, but I gave up when the fabric came apart in less than a month.

Moab 3
The shoe is comfortable and provides me with a stable walking platform on rural and non-paved roads and walkways. It also appears to be a good insulator from water migration via seams, eyelets or stitching. The shoe is light on the feet and fits nicely in my inventory of walking products.

Old World: Lead Shoes, New World: Cloud Shoes
In the 70's I back packed around the world wearing "old world" Vasque leather boots which weighed a ton but were state of the art in those days. Now having just finished the Camino to Santiago Spain in Moabs o boy what a difference. These Moabs were fantstic, light, stable, sure footed. Just the best, I have a high and low version. The only comment is water proof option not necessary because if you are "adventuring" maintaining a water level on the shoe as you step is not possible...
