The Best Boot Ever!

These are the best boots ever! My feet are on clouds

Excellent Swiss Army Knife Boot

I was impressed enough to buy a pair of Hightop and Lowtop in this specific model. I've owned over 100 pairs of boots over the course of a 22 years Army career and 50 years of hiking and camping. These are the best, and I've spent over $500 on other boots that don't come close. The Goretex membrane does as intended, keeping water and snow out, and your feet dry and ventilated. The sole provides outstanding cushion and grip. For perspective, I'm 6 ft tall, 240 lbs and I've put over 120 miles on each pair via hiking and every day use. I didn't require a break in. Zero blisters, but one thing I learned over the 50 years, wear synthetic breathable socks...not cotton. If you must wear cotton socks, don't be too ashamed to wear silk or silicone stocking under them. Your feet will thank you. Nothing macho about getting blisters and walking around like you are walking on hot coals. The high tops and low tops fit true to my normal size of 13. For the reviews that say they are not plush, your experience is definitely not my experience. I've had hip and knee surgeries, these are great cushioned boots.

Too Narrow, Very Poor Tread Life - Looking Elsewhere

Full disclosure, this review is for the original Kaha GTX, not the Kaha 2, but seeing them in store they don't look or feel much different. First complaint, too narrow, should offer a wide option - I normally do not need to order wide. Biggest complaint is tread life. I've had other Vibram soled boots that took a beating, offered great traction and lasted a long time. I think Hoka cheated here and used cheap sneaker material for the sole and NOT Vibram as labeled. Wore traction off soles in 3 months, and that was NOT with daily use! Would not recommend if you're looking for something to last.

These Things Are Junk!

I wore these things for 8 days for a back country hiking trip and they look like they're 2 years old. I literally just write them on the trail and the edges of them are torn and look ridiculous. They were comfortable, but I'm embarrassed to wear them now. Even worse is that they wanted me to pay for return shipping to warranty them. Then after they agreed to warranty them and send a return shipping label, they sent them back to me and said that they wouldn't warranty them because the damage is "normal wear and tear." I'll never buy Hoka again!

New Favorite Hiker

I’ve had these boots for about a month now and am hiking about 3 miles a day in them. It took a bit until they felt broken in, but are now feeling great. I have a bad case of hallux rigidus and the stiff sole of these boots allows me to hike for miles without irritating my big toe. There is enough support and cushion in the ankles and the lacing system works well to allow you to lock your foot in securely. The boots are waterproof and keep your feet nice and toasty. The traction is also notable with some pretty large lugs to keep you stable on slick trails. I have thrown on a pair of gaiters and am covered hiking in snow and muddy conditions. Love this boot.

Great Fit And Comfortable, Rugged With Finesse

Though among the highest priced model, it was by far the best fit and comfortable, great traction on hills and mud in addition to clean trails. Good ankle support, and easy to put on. The salesperson checking me out was ex- military, and said his “Hokas saved my life.”

Great Looks. Awful Performance.

Everything about this product would make you believe it's going to offer the most incredible experience. Looks sharp, feels solid, and conveys a tough & rugged package. However, when put to the test (~90 miles across Isle Royale National Park), I was left with destroyed feet and lost three toe nails. The one positive I'll offer is this shoe/boot certainly offers ankle support; I easily could've ripped my ankle apart on several occasions, and fortunately that never happened. But the toe box was horrendous, the GORE-TEX waterproofing not only failed--it trapped water inside the boot, and the heel material (foam-like) was shredded apart within the first 3 miles of true rocky terrain. I considered uploading a photo/video of either the shoe or my toes, but decided not to subject anyone to that misery. Ultimately, I was left extremely disappointed, and severely concerned about how a hiking shoe at this price-point could perform so poorly. I'd request a refund if time hadn't lapsed, and strongly suggest avoiding this product--unless your intention is to wear these anywhere else but trails.

Ultimate In Comfort

I’ve used these boots on a few fall hikes in the White Mountains. I have worn other Hoka One Ones and was impressed with their traction and comfort — I hoped these Kaha 2’s would prove the same. These did not disappoint! They do not slip on wet rock and leave my feet happy after 15+ miles.
