Looks Great On Line, And
Looks great on line, and when it arrived we were so disappointed in the sharp, unfinished edges, and the poor polish finish on the grate. We returned it. For the price the workmanship is not worth the stove. Hopefully Camp Chef improves their quality in future stoves.

I’ve Been Wanting A Camp
I’ve been wanting a Camp Chef Mountaineer for a couple years and was bummed they went out of stock pretty much everywhere. So when they recently became available again, I pounced. I can’t wait to use it at one of the big group campouts I organize every summer. It is replacing my old 2-burner Camp Chef stove that I used for years but which just got too heavy for me when trying to load and unload it from my truck. The Mountaineer, being all aluminum, is super light and will save my back!

Very Much Like My Old-old Version Of This Stove.
This is the modern version of a Mountaineer stove which we purchased back in the 1980s, and that has served us well on literally hundreds of river trips and camping trips. The new one is the same size, same wind windscreen and lid arrangements and same 20,000 btu burners. Slight changes in the arrangement of the knobs, and slightly different legs. Some comments have questioned the need for the high output burners but we have loved them. They are great when you need to boil pasta for 16 people or heat up a bucket of dishwater quickly. We even set it up at home when we are cooking something that needs high heat output. The gas control valves have always worked well and with a delecate touch we can turn it down to a simmer. The cooking surface is large enough for a couple of large pots/pans and if more space is needed the windscreen wings can be unlatched and swung away. Overall the stove has served us very well, but after 35 years, I might put a new on on my Christmas list.

Boss Hog Camp Stove.... The Best Bar None.
Maybe too powerful, but the last stove you will ever buy for camping. Buy nice or buy twice.
