I love my loyaks, I wear them every day. After this this purchase (2 pairs) I have 6 pairs of Astral’s Loyak shoes. They are hard to beat in comfort and flexibility. I like being able to slip them on easy. I have one pair that I dedicated to wearing during water sports (kayaking, paddle boarding, rafting, etc). I wear an 8.5 and bought these in a 9 and they fit perfect.

The 2 stars I gave are for the overall nice look of the shoe, comfort, and for the barefoot style with low drop and wide toe box. I knocked off the other 3 because of what I see as some fairly significant design flaws: the drain holes are too small, there are not enough, and they are poorly placed in spots that are too high for water to drain out naturally. So you have to awkwardly balance on one foot while you tip the other one back and forth to try to get the water to drain out (slowly because small holes). They should be on the bottom where water can drain out on its own. And, as soon as they get wet the insoles squeak with every step which gets very annoying after a while. And, they take forever to dry, even when put in direct sunlight they still take many hours to fully dry. And if you were hoping to continue wearing them for a while after you get out of the water, forget it - unless you don't mind having cold, wet, clammy feet. And, when things dry too slowly they start to stink. This is no fun when traveling and they stink up your entire bag or vehicle. And, the material is very scratchy inside, so it doesn't feel great on bare feet, which I assume is how they were intended to be worn. This is less of an issue once they're wet, but I got water shoes that look like sneakers so that I could wear them to and from the water activity as well. Nice looking, comfortable water shoes with a wide toe box are not easy to find. These have the potential to be great if some more thought could go into how they get used.

Bought a pair of these water shoes 10 yrs ago . I do kayak tours in Swfl where there is lots of sharp oysters. Long as I wash these shoes from salt every time I worked they last me 10 yrs like no Other water shoe . recently purchased another pair in a great different color. I’m looking to have these water shoes another 10 yrs

These shoes are comfortable. They’ll be great for my river trip. They have a little holes in the front of the water can go out and the top of my feet won’t get burned. I have wide feet so with a nine wide these actually are comfortable and don’t squeeze my toe bed.

I love these shoes, comfortable and functional for many kinds of boating activities. The only small downside I’ve experienced is that the treads can pickup a bit of sand, which I carefully picked out to protect the deck. But the exceptional traction they provide makes this issue minimal.

Went hiking in Puerto Rico and they were the perfect shoes! Gripped the rocks and tree roots beautifully and were also comfortable. Very happy with my purchase!
River Grandma
We looked like 2 old people holding on to each other for dear life as we crossed slippery river rocks to get to the deep swimming hole. Now we walk out pretty confidently with an occasional hand hold because these shoes have given us stability. Love them. Bonus goodness is they are wide enough for my extra wide feet. I'm envious of my husband's florescent green eyelets. Cool shoes! So happy our kayaking river kids reccomended astral shoes.

Best shoes I’ve ever had. I’m obsessed with Astral shoes! I work on a farm and in the summer I wear these 24/7. To have a shoe that is grippy, breathable, and washable is a game changer. I got two pairs this season. : )

Well, it’s my 3rd pair and the older ones are still in use for gardening. These are my most comfortable go-to shoes for casual wear. Length is accurate and mid-foot/heel fit is not too loose or too tight. Not recommending, but I pop mine (in a wash bag) into the washing machine when they get too dusty. Come out looking new!
My favorite shoes hands down! They are comfortable and can wear them anywhere for anything.

The fit of the Women's specific loyak was much better than the other men's styles with a size conversion I tried. Wore these inside, outside and in the water on the first day I got them and was happy in all cases! They took longer than expected to fully dry so I don't know if they are the one shoe to rule them all - but with a sandal back-up they will be a good fit for almost any adventure.
