The Beta AR Jacket with GORE-TEX ePE fabric (2025-2026) has exceeded my expectations in every way. It is a highly versatile shell that performs exceptionally well in challenging weather conditions while remaining comfortable for everyday outdoor use. Breathability One of the standout features of this jacket is its impressive breathability. Even during high-output activities such as hiking, climbing, or fast-paced walks, moisture is effectively managed, helping me stay dry and comfortable from the inside out. The pit zips provide additional ventilation when needed, making it suitable for a wide range of conditions. Waterproofing The waterproofing is outstanding. The GORE-TEX ePE fabric provides reliable protection against heavy rain, snow, and strong winds. During extended periods of bad weather, the jacket kept me completely dry without feeling clammy. The weather protection inspires confidence when heading into unpredictable conditions. Durability As expected from Arc'teryx, the durability is excellent. The materials feel robust and premium, and the reinforced high-wear areas are built to withstand demanding outdoor use. After regular use, the jacket still looks and performs like new, showing very little wear. Packability Despite its rugged construction, the Beta AR offers surprisingly good packability. It compresses easily into a backpack without taking up excessive space, making it a practical choice for travel, mountain adventures, or simply carrying as emergency weather protection. Sealing The sealing and construction quality are first-class. The fully taped seams, waterproof zippers, and well-designed hood create a complete barrier against the elements. Water simply beads off the surface, and there are no weak points where moisture can enter. Great jacket. Wind shielding. I bring it with me almost everywhere. Fits well in the day pack, my truck, etc. lightweight. I keep it in the truck on my daily commute and can be used as a rain coat. Allows some breathability. Layers well with whatever warm desired under. No product is forever… I used to protect these Arcteryx products like they are investments but rather these gears are meant for use and adventure. With time, they will deteriorate regardless. Use them to help you get through weather and elements. I’m writing this review from the Grand Tetons NP.

Storm days have a way of making you feel small in the best way. Sierra cement, spring corn, sideways sleet, none of it gets through. The cut moves with you, and the hood turns with your head like it's paying attention. Good gear disappears and does everything you need it too. This one ticks all the boxes.

This is my second Beta AR Jacket and I have hiked out the old one for six years....... There is nothing but good things to talk about this solid shell jacket and from my own experience this company stands by its products when they are not living up to their very high standards. Great jacket for wearing around town or for a hike. I bought it primarily to keep me dry and it meets my expectations. Easy to layer over a tshirt and/or light midlayer. Love the colors too.

It’s a great shell from a performance standpoint. Waterproofing is solid, it blocks wind well, and it breathes nicely. The problem is the fit. It’s uncomfortably tight in the shoulders and pit area. I have to keep the pit zips partially open just to wear it, which defeats the purpose. Bought it online without trying it on — lesson learned.

This jacket is awesome! Came just in time for a snowstorm! Super high quality, really breathable and even kept me a bit warm with just a long sleeve under it. Water beads off like no other jacket I’ve had. Goes well with my atom hoodie! Thank you Arc'teryx!!

After just a few years of use, the adhesion between panels does not hold and the jacket is literally falling apart. Previous version lasted more than 5 years.

The Beta AR Jacket is a great waterproof and windproof option for mild temperatures. I am 6'0" and 145 pounds and really like the fit of a medium. The Black Sapphire is a fantastic color. I hope Arct'teryx continues it as a basic color. For me, this jacket does not provide much warmth. On a cloudy, windy, 50° day the Beta AR stopped the wind, but I still felt cold with just a long-sleeve shirt underneath. Going forward, I see my Beta AR as a waterproof jacket on mild to warm days. or as a waterproof shell with an Atom or other mid layer. As far as design, the velcro closures at the wrist are fine, but there may be a better option like what is found in the Atom jacket.

Great jacket! Sized a bit smaller than expected, but that’s another sign for me to lose a few inches! Durability of fabric looks like it’ll hold up well to weather and wear, but only time will tell. The driving factor for buying are the colors—love this combination of Electra/Soulsonic!

I’m 5’11”, 185 lbs and purchased size L to be used as my “everything” shell, with the primary use being downhill skiing, but also serving alpine touring, ice climbing, and backpacking rain shell. The Beta AR will replace a low-end jacket from a competing brand. I considered a dedicated ski shell, but decided on the Beta AR (despite missing a powder skirt and a pass pocket)due to its ridiculously low weight that I think will be generally advantageous. The over-the helmet sized hood is awesome, and is also adjustable to fit nicely without a helmet. The chest pockets are easily accessible while wearing a backpack/hip belt, and it compresses down to almost nothing while not being worn

This is now the second Beta AR jacket I’ve had to retire because of delamination in the Gore-Tex layers. For a brand that prides itself on premium quality and durability, having a jacket fail in six years is incredibly disappointing. The Re-Bird credit also felt disappointing, “Here’s a token amount for a defective product, but that’s all you’ll get since a previous product already failed you”. Overall, the experience has left me frustrated and disappointed with the durability and the support provided. I expected better from Arc’teryx.
