Bought several of a similar item at ball fields and they always break! This is a game changer for our family

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my 11year old son but we quickly realized that the string is way too long to be able to use. The long string makes it impossible to throw and catch accurately. We tied the string to make it shorter but I think it lost its appeal after that.
