Bought this tram to attach to our existing Thule bike rack as placing a ski rack on my car roof was to hard due to the extra large moon roof with flush rails. This system works great with transporting upto 5 sets of skis or boards and can take the rack system off easily the other end and store it in the garage. Highly recommend this option if you have the existing bike rack already as is an easy and cheaper system

I needed a ski rack for my SUV and in the past had roof racks. My new SUV does not have running boards on it nor did it come with the cross frames for the factory installed roof racks. After doing some math and research, the most efficient way would be able to convert my APEX bike rack with the 9033 Ski Tram. the fact that it can be loaded while standing on the ground is great. It holds both the skis and poles with no issues. you do pick up some debris on the lower part of the skis depending on what conditions you travel in but no real big deal. The only two drawbacks are that I wish its coating were a bit more durable, like the bike rack is and that it's kind of bulky to store when removed and not in use, it does take up some a lot of space.

Living in the northeast rust is a common issue, but the materials/coatings on this must be minimal, after just two seasons the rest had really taken over. It’s amazing that there is no sign of rust on the bike rack but the ski rack is covered in it. Outside of the rust issues it has been a good rack, I just don’t see it lasting as long as the roof racks do.

The web site does not explain you need to attach this to a Bicycle rack and when I found this out by reading a review after purchase then I could not find out whether it is compatible with my bike rack and after putting it together it would not fit so I took it apart send returned it after several emails requesting a return label.

I have no doubt that Thule named by customer's experience. I strongly recommend genuine Thule equipment to my friends.

BUYER BEWARE! All over you see "needs to have the bike rack to support this!" Yes, you don't read, you don't see, you're going to buy it to find out THAT YOU NEED THE BIKE RACK! But if you HAVE the bike rack! This is the enhancement, which is ticking all the boxes of efficient, minimalistic, strong, secure, making good use of what you have and (BLIMEY!) it LOOKS good! Easy to put together, easy to fix on top of the bike rack, easy to mount the skis and snowboard, secure latching, easy to take the skis and snowboard off. YES! GET IT!

This is exactly what I needed to complement my Thule bike carrier. Excellent product.

I have debated on getting this rack for a few years now. I am glad I did. Having the bike rack already, this was a nice add on. It holds my family's skis and snowboards securely and safely with added locks. The rack is easy to put together, does help to have some extra hands. The hinges have a small and large setting which allow you to carry thicker skis easily as well which I didn't know was a feature.

I use this ski/board tram in conjunction with a Thule swing away bike rack on a 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK. It functions well enough but if driving on wet or slushy roads you will get a lot of road grime on your skis or boards if they are not covered. If you live in an area where the roads are salted you will get rust as well if you don't wipe and rinse your gear after each use (which should be common sense). I use movers stretch wrap from UHaul and wrap my skis prior to using the rack the roll comes on a handle and has 1000' of wrap works great and is cheap. Could buy cheap ski bags as well I guess.

I've used this rack a few times over the past winter. The rack installed easily and securely transported 5 pairs of skis and poles. However, the skis get covered in road salt and grime, which wreaks havoc on your edges to the point where I had to have my skis sharpened. I definitely recommend but be sure to immediately wipe down your skis after removing them from the rack, otherwise you will have rusty edges.

I bought the 963PRO to put on my jeep spare tire and thule 9033 for ski/snowboard rack. The only thing i could complain about is the 963PRO came with some kind of lock screw that prevent thiefs from stealing your rack. When you install the 9033 on top of the 963PRO you have to remove that lock for proper installation and can not put it back, leaving both racks easy to be stolen (Thule you should fix this). Besides that pretty happy with everything.

This product works well for our family of 3. We have tried to get 2 pairs of skis on one side of this rack, and there is no way they will fit. Maybe straight skis from the 70's would fit, but not the parabolic skis. If Thule can provide instructions and photos of 4 pairs of skis on this rack, I'd love to see them.

I use this for snowboards and it works great. Easy to load and lock.

My buddy has this and the bike mount on his hitch and I've used both and love them! The hitch mount location is easy to load, protects the vehicle, and I imagine is more aerodynamic than the top loading options. Everyone can load their own skis/boards instead of needing one person on a step stool to load on top of the SUV, which can be tricky. The only small downside is that the skis pick up road grime if you're fortunate to be heading to ski when it's storming, but that is easy to wipe off with a rag or snow when you get to the slopes. Like it so much I am ordering the same setup for both of my cars!
