How to keep this short... I'm 72. Started back-pack camping in 1966. There were no back-pack camping mattresses, and if there were camping pads, I never saw one. In the early eighty's, as a"die hard" San Francisco bicyclist-skateboarder (Three spinal surgeries: w/ metal rod in 1976, then broke the rod and replaced it with a hip bone graft in 1986) I became passionate about snowboarding. Simply put: I discovered Thermarest sleeping pads and was able to go anywhere someone would let me lie down for the night, and get a good night's rest, then get up and go snowboarding. As a result, I became well employed in the industry. Now, I live on a boat, where I sleep on the Thermarest Mondo King over the standard foam mattress. (The bedside lockers won't open if blocked by a thicker mattress.) So, 40 years with Thermarest. Great memories, and a good back... HAPPY CUSTOMER!
