Good Not Great Helmet

I like a lot of things about this helmet. Looks good, ventilation is fine, and the fit is okay EXCEPT for the vapor-fit dial adjustment system. It sits higher around the back of the head than other helmets, and when tightened securely is somewhat uncomfortable. Also, the dial adjuster is nearly impossible to turn when your hands are sweaty. Difficult to adjust on the fly. Needs some knurling on the surface to improve grip. Frankly, I've worn other several other brands that fit my head better, including Specialized, Kask, and Rudy Project (which I ruined in a crash and was unable to replace with the same color). This Smith Trace was on sale when I purchased it online. Should have tried it on first but could not find one locally

Excellent Choice!

Very nice helmet, light, comfortable and well ventilated. Integrated bug screens are also much welcome.

Fits extremely well, very adjustable. Airflow could be better, but it never feels overly hot even on the warmest days.

Great Helmet

Excellent fit. The chin strap design solves the irritating problem with older designs where the straps rub your ears. I am very pleased with the helmet.

Smith Trace/poppy-terra-storm

Trace seems to me is upgraded Overtake which I've had for some years. Please don't take my word but similarities are there. Very satisfied with Overtake except ventilation. Smith got it fixed with Trace even with glasses vents to eliminate fogging. That works well but I've not had a chance to test it on humid summer day. Downfall is that the helmet's front sits lower over glasses to make ventilation work but I've experienced bumping between helmet and glasses during rougher gravel ride. MTB ride was the same story but I can live with that. It is not a MTB helmet. Fits great just like Overtake. Love new improved straps. Highly recommend this lid.

This Helmet Did Its Job But...

I bought this helmet in March and was very happy with the fit and airflow. I had a bad crash yesterday when another rider fell in front of me. I went over him hitting the pavement with the front left of the helmet. This helmet did its job and took the brunt of the damage. Unfortunately the impact pushed the thin MIPS plastic into my temple leaving a gash that required eleven stitches. I would definitely take the stitches over a traumatic brain injury but it would seem that there could be something to make that edge less exposed.

Another One Bites The Dust After A Fall.

I purchased this in December 2022. Had a crash on MTB trail flipping upside down landing on my head. Did break my neck, but the helmet saved my life. Tough helmet! Landed on hard dirt/sand in Northern California mountains. Purchased the Convoy and now purchasing the Engage. Great helmets!! I would like to add that I had a lot of trouble being able to tighten the straps by the ears. Never could figure that out. I stayed away from this design recently because of this. There are no instructions and I called to ask how to tighten these.

Lightweight, Comfortable, And Stylish

A stylish, comfortable helmet for your road (or gravel) needs. I'm especially a fan of the chin strap since its split design stays comfortable around the ears even as you tighten it down. Oh, and the pink matches my bike perfectly!

So Comfortable

This helmet is perfect. Excellent fit and very comfortable. I have a more oval (Giro, Fox) shaped head and this fit me very well. The straps are narrower and more flexible than other brands I have worn and it makes sense-more comfortable and a tiny bit lighter. Hopefully I never test impact resistance but as far as fit and comfort go this is excellent. I love how it looks so 10 in my book. A note on size. Every helmet I have ever worn is a size medium EXCEPT Smith Snow helmets where I take a large. I am not sure of why this discrepancy exists but my son and I have both experienced this and for whatever reason we both fit medium on bikes and large on skis.

Great fit and light. I was concerned about the helmet being a little hotter due to the full Koroyd, but didn’t notice a thing. Awesome product as always

Love love love my Trace 🧡 Light weight, great airflow for the Texas weather and during the “winter” my cycling cap bill isn’t an obstruction. I also have the mid level network which is great but the trace is next level! No pun intended 😆
