Stylish all around shorts
Only recently became aware of Smartwool, saw this quarter zip, and love it! Fits well. Looks good. Very useful base wool layer. Now a fan of Smarwool.

Smartwool has mastered the 1/4 zip merino base layer. I've owned these for years and they never disappoint. Once the temp is below 20 degrees, I have one on every day. Perfect weight, perfect fit.

I recently had the opportunity to try out the Smartwool Men's Classic Thermal Merino Base Layer 1/4 Zip, and I must say, it quickly became one of my favorite pieces of outdoor clothing. First and foremost, the quality of the merino wool used in this base layer is exceptional. The fabric is incredibly soft and comfortable against the skin, and it provides excellent insulation and warmth. I was impressed by how well it regulated my body temperature, keeping me warm in colder conditions and preventing overheating during more active pursuits. The natural moisture-wicking properties of merino wool also kept me dry and comfortable throughout my outdoor activities. The 1/4 zip design of this base layer is a great feature. It allows for easy ventilation and temperature control, especially during strenuous activities when you need to quickly release excess heat. The zipper is smooth and durable, and the collar provides added protection and warmth for the neck area. I found the fit of this base layer to be spot on. The slim yet stretchy design contours to the body without feeling restrictive, allowing for a full range of motion. The sleeves are the perfect length, and the shirt stays in place even during active movements. The overall construction feels solid, with flatlock seams that minimize chafing and enhance comfort. One of the standout features of this base layer is its odor resistance. Merino wool naturally has antimicrobial properties, meaning it inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria. Even after multiple days of use, the shirt remained fresh and odor-free, making it an excellent choice for multi-day hikes or backpacking trips when laundry facilities may be limited. Durability-wise, the Smartwool Men's Classic Thermal Merino Base Layer is impressive. The merino wool is robust and resistant to pilling, ensuring that the shirt maintains its quality and appearance even after repeated use and washes. I appreciated that it retained its shape and didn't stretch out over time. In terms of improvements, I would have liked to see a small zippered pocket or a media port for storing small essentials or routing headphone cables. This would have added convenience for those who like to listen to music or carry small items while on the move. Overall, the Smartwool Men's Classic Thermal Merino Base Layer 1/4 Zip exceeded my expectations in terms of comfort, performance, and durability. It is a versatile and reliable piece of outdoor clothing that provides excellent insulation, temperature regulation, and odor resistance. Whether you're hiking, skiing, or engaging in any cold-weather activity, this base layer is a worthy investment that will keep you warm, dry, and comfortable throughout your adventures.

Smart Wool has natural colors. For those who sweat in all physical activities, the merino wool carries it’s own wool fragrance the longest time between washings and the fabric keeps it’s shape. All great qualities for products to be used and last!

I’ve worn them all. But smartwool has it figured out. They are the best in the business for warmer base layers. I literally wear the crew neck with a 1/4 zip under my uniform. It provides supreme warmth, breathable base, and keeps you dry. And these are flat out durable.
