This Is The One To Get
Extremely well-made and worth every penny. Now that I use it on the river I can’t believe that I have ever been without it. Situations that used to cause a problem are now rocksteady because I have the proverbial three points of contact: my two feet and the Simms wading staff. The locking mechanism keeps it perfectly rigid without any chance of the sections separating. Folds away nicely into the rigid pouch that you attach to your wading belt. An accident on the river can be dangerous, and I highly recommend this product.

Safety On The Stream
A wading staff is important. As you age it keeps the angler from taking a surprise bath.

Looks Good So Far
Haven’t had this in the water yet but it seems to be fairly easy to deploy and fold back into the sheath. Time will tell how well it performs.

Missing The Rubber Tip
I purchased one of these last summer and it included the additional rubber tip piece. I purchased another recently and it did not include the rubber tip piece (either by mistake or by choice?) Either way it gets 3 stars instead of 5 because of this.

Good Quality Overall
I bought this because of an upcoming trip to the Driftless region of WI, which has some steep banks to traverse. I've been stubbornly resisting the need for one of these for years, but accepted the fact that I need one after absolutely destroying my knee while wading in the Bighorn River in MT. Now that I have a knee replacement, this is a tool I can no longer deny the usefulness of. Really solid construction, and it feels like it'll hold up well. It is easy to collapse and easy to assemble. I really like the formed shell pouch, but would like to see it accommodate a 2" wader belt with loops for wearing horizontally across my back. That's not a complaint, just an improvement I'd like to see. I do not care for the cord lanyard that connects it to the zinger....It will get snagged and tangled, and seems like an afterthought on an otherwise well-designed product. The positives definitely outweigh the negatives!!

Women Dimensions Needed
I think it’s amazingly made very sturdy. I wish it was adjustable for my height. I’m 5’2” and the height of the handle is awkward. When I fish and am standing in the river I need to leave it extended and it’s very hard to manage. Yesterday the fly line got tangled in the staff while I was trying to land a fish. I think a women’s version would be grand!

Good Staff For Low To Moderate Water.
This is a great wading staff. Wish it were maybe another 1/4 inch in diameter, otherwise pretty stable.

Good But Could Use Improvements
The idea of a staff in the river is good but you have to plan to leave it extended as it's a 2 handed job to put it away. Also wish they had two different lengths. I'm short and this is overkill length for me.

Support
I have not had a chance to use it yet. Therapy older I get I find the more I need support crossing a river. I replaced the tip with the rubber one. Very good quality Looking forward to getting it wet.

Essential For Stream Fishermen
Great product ... its my third Simms wading staff. One bent after falling on it crossing a river in Montana and another snapped in two after a bad fall negotiating high spring water in Colorado. I would NEVER BE ON A STREAM WITHOUT THIS PRODUCT. It has saved me too many times to count. Over the last 60 years years I used a lot of different wading staffs and this is the best. One thing I don't care for is the way they have integrated the holster and the retractable leash. I would much rather have two separate components - I never bother using the holster. I sling it over my right shoulder when not in use.

Did I Mention How Tough This Product Is?
Simple design, easy to use, & very tough. It keeps my 6’3 250# frame out of the rivers.

Worth The Money!
I never thought I would ever "need" a wading staff or even consider using one before my friend convinced me to get one. Now it's definitely something I always have with me now on anytime I'm on the water, my only regret was not buying one sooner.
