We used this while canoeing in the Boundary Waters. It was easy to set up and provided good protection from wind and rain. The sides can be adjusted using the guy lines depending on how mush coverage is needed

I’ve been using this tarp for nearly a decade and I absolutely love it. I have the large size with the inner tent and it’s incredibly spacious and lightweight. I’ve used it in just about every condition you could imagine and it’s held up exceptionally well. I’ve survived big summer storms in the alpine, used it in light snow, stayed dry in absolute downpours, and just about anything else you can think of. The 10x10 size feels like a palace when you’re solo and it disappears in your pack. Barely shows any sign of wear. Can’t recommend this tarp enough.

This thing pairs perfectly with my UL hammock. Got the L incase I wanna snag the bug tent and footprint. Really happy with it alone so far.

This is absolutely worth every penny! The best tarp I have ever owned! Setup is so easy. Attachment points are in the right spot! Getting the lines taut has never been easier!

Used the tarp several nights while hiking the Appalachian Trail as added cover from heavy rains. This tarp rocked and was great. It added a bit of a vestibule cover to the front of the tent and kept us wonderfully dry

So light that I don’t mind carrying this for group mess tarp when backpacking.

I purchased the larger of the Escapist tarps (10' x 10') a few years ago, and I love it. I have owned a number of tarps over the past 45 years or so, and this one is by far the best I have ever used. The material is very light, strong, and waterproof; the attachment points are very sturdy; and the attached cordage and adjusters are very helpful during setup. The one modification I've made -- and I've done this for every flat tarp I have ever owned -- is to add a center-point pullout. For that I use a small grip clip such as those offered by Shelter Systems. The center point is useful for increasing headroom, especially in poor weather when you want most or all edges low to the ground or even pinned to the ground on the windward side. I recommend getting the 10'x10' size if you intend to sleep two persons. My wife and I use our tarp mostly as a dining fly (for 2 persons), so that we can eat away from our tent in bear country, protected from the weather. In rainy conditions, we may also set up or take down the tent under the tarp but normally use the tent in a separate location. I normally carry three or four lightweight stakes and two or three ounces of lightweight rope of various lengths (1' to 40') to facilitate more setup options.

I'd already purchased a medium sized escapist before and was thoroughly impressed with the ease of setup and how well it sheds water and protects from the rain (it poured that night). This time around I purchased the large one just to use with the bug net as well, perfect for Texas camping. Provides airflow, ease of use, and again, keeps you dry. I highly recommend.

Super light…..very easy to use. Great for ultralight backpacking.

Used this tent for the first time bike packing. It is super light and packs smaller than a Nalgene. On the bikepacking trip I wasn’t sure how it would hold up so I brought a bivy to put under but was not necessary. I spent the whole night on top of bivy. From here on out only pad and bag under this and will use instead of tent. Could also be nice if you have a tent to have this elsewhere for a cooking shelter

Great emergency tarp. Multiple setups a plus. Ultra light and durable. Only complaint is the very tight stuff sack. Had to change it out for a little larger one. Goes with me on every day hike in my pack, “just in case”. I am very satisfied overall with Sea to Summit gear.

An incredible versatile lightweight shelter. Perfect for light and fast adventures or as a great emergency shelter.

sturdy-enough minimal shelter to take on any adventure

I haven't had to deploy this tarp yet, but looks to be exactly what I needed - a very compact, light weight and well made tarp to use for an emergency shelter while hiking or backpacking. Yes, it's a bit pricey. But should work great if you must make shelter during a backcountry medical or weather emergency. Note, this tarp is not made of "bombproof" material, but it's so small and light you won't leave it behind next time you're heading into the backcounty. Just throw some p-cord in your pack, too, and you have a near-instant shelter.
Would give 5 stars, except the stuff sack it came with will be very hard to use because its so small.
