This is a great sleeping pad for car camping. It’s durable without excessive bulk. You could use it backpacking or kayak camping if you’re on a budget and can handle a little extra weight and volume. My kayak is usually too packed to fit this in, but it could work well for rafting or packrafting. It’s more comfortable and much more compact than a Paco pad but not as durable. I’ve had other sleeping pads of comparable fabric and thickness that didn’t pack nearly as small or weigh as little. Sea to Summit did a good job with the Air Zone fill. It helps reduce bulk and weight without losing the self-expanding ability or the comfort that self-inflating mattresses provide. I let the mattress expand as much as it can on its own while I tend to all my other camp chores and give it 2 to 3 breaths when I go to bed, which is typical of my other self inflating mattresses. I ordered the regular rectangular and it’s large enough to comfortably adjust sleeping positions in the night. The fabric texture/grip is just right too. It’s not as slippery as some to where I find myself sliding off the mattress. I used it into the mid 30s F with a comparably rated sleeping bag, and I was plenty warm. It would be nice if it had the pillow lock system on the pad. You might be able to add this separately but the fabric is different from other Sea to Summit pads I have with the pillow lock so there may be an adhesion issue. I like the side load stuff sack. It’s definitely easier to pack than the standard end load style. The only downside is that I like my stuff sacks to completely encase my pads for protection. This leaves a portion of the pad exposed especially if you don’t roll it super tight which is kind of the point of the side load sack. For car/truck camping, gear is often in a trunk or bed with other loose gear that can abrade or snag the fabric. I do like that they put an extra webbing loop on the other side of the opening that I use to help secure the draw cord and prevent opening up. This loop will help keep the sack closed if the cord lock breaks. An extra flap of material would be nice for protection but if you’re paying attention to how it’s packed it’s not an issue. It does speed up setup and takedown at camp.

These were the only foam mats I could find that were reasonably priced, quality and under 24" wide, so works great for backpacking or for car camping. Love it!

Never dissapointed by Sea to Summit. The Camp Plus+ Air Zone Self Inflating Mattress is a winner for car camping. It is a bit too big and bulky for backpacking, but can be used for kayak camping if you have room in your kayak, as I did on a recent trip. The mattress is super comfortable. I sleep all over the place (back, side, stomach), so I got the largest one (78 in long, 25. 2 inches wide, and weighing 52. 7 oz). You can shave some volume/weight by getting a smaller, tapered version, but I don't think thin line was designed for weight conscious backpackers. It self inflates fairly well, although I did have to top it off with a few breaths. I have all kinds of back issues and the mattress provided an excellent night's sleep. It is very well made with robust materials and high quality valves. The unique Sea to summit "bag" more of a clam shell (I think its a great design) made packing it away simple and easy. With an R value of 5. 3 and a thickness of 2. 8in, this is a solid mattress. And with the Sea to Summit name on it and guarantee behind it - how can you go wrong? Five Stars!

I have used this several times now and have been very pleasantly surprised by its durability and comfort at this price point. I feel it is an excellent choice for car camping or overlanding. It is quite big in its stored position compared to my backpacking pads. It is every bit as comfortable as my pads that that I have paid over twice as much for. The side loading stuff sack is pretty clever I highly recommend this pad

Love this pad for camping. Really appreciate the rectangular option and it's so comfortable.

I was looking for something more substantial and quieter than my backpacking pad to use for car camping inside my car but didn’t want something too large as space is a serious commodity in my vehicle. This pad packs down so much smaller than my premium pad but is just as comfortable when I use it inside my car. It also fits perfectly in the space I have! 10/10

This pad is just as comfortable as my bed. It sucks it can't pack down further, but it's sold as a camp pad not a backpacking pad. I just brought it on a trip and absolutely loved it. It doesn't move when you do, like the foot doesn't lift up when all the weight is on the head. I just wish it packed down smaller, but again it's not supposed to so it's not a flaw in the product. I brought it under my pack in a roll for a 28 mile hike, with a one night stop at 14 miles. It added about as much space as the rest of my gear, but I slept great!

Really great sleeping pad that holds up to cold weather! Easy to use, though the self inflating won’t bring it all the way. Might be worth considering buying those air inflators to help top it off. It can be tough to roll it back up into the small bag, but I think it’ll get easier with practice.

This is a 5-star review if you get this pad for car camping. This is not a backpacking pad. In their defense, they say that right on the product page description, but I thought I could make it work. It’s really just too big to keep in a backpacking pack. But conversely, for car camping, it’s actually quite small and light. And has a good enough r-value and is very comfortable. Worth it!

Great pad. It’s very comfortable and durable. It hasn’t had any issues after many camping trips with kids. I like the size and weight.

We just finished camping near the U. P. , it was raining the first 24 hours. This pad dried quickly and never lost air.

Recently purchased self-inflating Camp Plus large rectangular sleeping pad and ultralight regular Aeros Pillow. I did a lot of shopping before deciding on these products. The clincher for me was the "pillow lock system" although I feel the price of the pillow is high given what it is. I followed the directions for applying the "locking" patches carefully - cleaning the sleeping pad surface with alcohol and allowing to dry prior to application. The adhesive on two of the "locking" patches failed the first time I used the pad and pillow. They held onto the pillow but came off the pad when I shifted my body position. The pillow did not hold in place. What a disappointment! Also, despite filling the pad to capacity upon removal from the packaging, and leaving it filled for several days, the pad takes longer to fill than I expected and requires significant additional breaths to fill. It "self-inflates" partially. I expected it to require a few additional breaths, but I think I could fill a non-self-inflating pad in less time and with less breath than required for this pad. On the positive side, I found the pad to be comfortable.

Amazing that something that packs this small is this comfortable. Love this pad.

I regret buying the Camp Plus Self-Inflating Sleeping Mat. I’m a side sleeper, and this mat barely inflates enough to give any comfort—it feels thin no matter how much I try to adjust it. The length is fine, and the material quality itself seems okay, but comfort is the whole point of a sleeping mat, and this one fails. Wish I had gone with something thicker or with better support.

Superior comfort to every other mat I’ve ever used! Love it!
