Solid Shoe
I have gone through well over ten pairs of the speed cross 6 shoes (both gore-tex and regular) I think the non-gore-tex ones are a better value and better shoe, simply because they cost less, breath better, and dry faster. That said, if you are using these for the right conditions (light/well packed snow, heavy dew /wet but not deep mud trails) they stay much dryer than the regular ones. The problem is, all shoes have a very big hole in them where your foot goes in, so anything with deep mud/puddles or stream crossings renders the gore-tex useless, and then this shoe will dry noticeably slower than the regular one. I always have at least a pair of each type, so I choose based on what I plan to do that day. In terms of fit, the gore-tex vaTriant seems to fit slightly differently around the heel, as I notice they consistently have different hotspots versus the regular ones. The overall fit is the same though. The grip is excellent on these shoes, it used to be better than anything on the market, but it still is among the top. I find they generally give me 150-200 miles of rough trail running/hiking before the tread wears off. I wish they lasted longer, but they are great during that time. If you are lighter, and less aggressive, they definitely last longer. The narrow front coupled with the low cushion there is great for precise footwork, and minimizing side-to-side torque on your ankles. The heel has more cushion which is great for soaking up harder impacts. The low cushion up front also helps with feeling what you are running on, but still offers enough protection from pointy rocks. There are lighter shoes out there, but these are really comfortable for distances over 20 miles. Longest I have personally hiked/ran in them was 40 miles with 16,000 feet of elevation gain, and they were totally fine. I wear a full size down from my regular shoe size (normally 10.5, I wear 9.5) This is because I do not want my foot sliding in the shoe at all while running downhill, and I find that the shoes stretch slightly over their lifetime.

Amazing Fit, Feels Great
I'm been using this shoe for hiking, trail running, and even coaching youth baseball! It's by far the most comfortable shoe that I'm owned, my feet feel great in this shoe. I'm buying another more hard core hiking shoe for longer adventures, all do to how this shoe fits my feet.

Runs Small
Well built and waterproof. They fit a little too snug for my normal size. I’m not sure if I’d need a wide or a half size bigger.

My Favorite Hiking Shoe
I love my Speedcross 6 GTX’s. This is my second pair and I love that they are comfortable right out of the box. I’ve been training on a lot of loose rock and slippery trails and these shoes are up to the test. Their grip is unmatched and they glide over the terrain with ease. Highly recommend these trail runners for hiking and backpacking and for running over all types of trail surfaces.

Much Tighter Than The Speedcross 6
I have worn these three times, thinking i just need to break them in. I love my original shoe’s, but this GTX model is way too tight. I cannot wear them for more than 30 minutes without excruciating pain from the toe box area of the shoes. I thought I was upgrading, but I should have just got the original 6s again. I have four other Salomon shoes, and they have all been great, However, with these GTXs I am unable to deal with the pain when wearing them.

I Love These Shoes!
Great shoes even on the most demanding of hikes. Amazingly comfortable, supportive, and grippy. So lightweight you hardly know they are there. The fact that they are waterproof too only makes them better. I went a half size up and they fit great with my hiking socks on. Worth every penny if you value your hiking shoes.

Great Trail Shoes For All Conditions
I've been wearing these on rocky and muddy trails for a few months now and they've held up really well. The grip is excellent even on wet and loose terrain, and the waterproofing keeps my feet dry in wet conditions. They fit true to size and were comfortable right out of the box, with no break-in period needed. Overall a solid, reliable trail shoe that I'd recommend to other hikers and runners.

Excellant Trail Running Shoes
I bought these shoes because I needed a pair of trail running shoes. They are made with Gore-Tex, which keeps my feet dry on rainy days. I have wide, thick feet, and these shoes fit very comfortably with plenty of room in the toe box. The laces are simple to tie, and they can be easily tucked into the tongue to keep them out of the way while running.

Amazingly Versatile Shoes - For All Daily Uses
The Speedcross 6 gore-tex is the third pair of this line of shoes I have had. Each one has been wonderful to wear. I have worn this latest pair for everyday use at work, school, hikes, walking the dogs, etc. Only thing I don't use them for is tennis! They were totally comfortable to wear as soon as I put them on (no break-in needed). I have upgrades every year or two as the soles get worn down and the tread blocks wear away (like tires on your car). I could not be happier with these. I usually get the black ones and nobody notices even when I am wearing a suite!

Great Sole Grip And Weatherproofness
Bought them about a month ago. Really, really love the tread and the gore-tex, I can walk through mick and wayer and have dry feet. Downside, not very breathable and my feet cook in them.

Great Hiking Shoe For Wet Trails
I’ve loved all my Salomons and this pair is no different. Purchased for a Norway hiking trip and so glad I did. Toes stayed dry despite the wet conditions and the grip was unmatched for both rocky and muddy terrain. Super comfortable for all day wear.
