Thin Material Damaged On First Hike

The bad: On my first hike, one waterbottle pocket was torn somehow. All of my clothes are fine (no damage) and the rest of the pack is fine, so I'm not clear how this happened. The material the pack is constructed of is thin. Some other packs I've acquired in the past had reinforcing material on the bottom (to prevent damage where the pack gets set onto the ground) - this one does not. I have concerns about durability in the long run. The good: I sweat heavily, so the idea of a pack that doesn't sit directly on your back (via the partial internal frame) is what sold me. The size (volume) of the pack and attachment points are convenient and allow for packing layers for winter day hikes or lots of water in the summer. The pack is comfortable and has many well-thought-out features - like 2-position bottle pockets (for ease of retrieving bottles while wearing the pack), or pockets on the waist strap (for energy snacks). I used the loops on the waist strap to hold my bear spray. However, overall, I cannot recommend this pack due to the torn material on the bottle pocket and future durability concerns.

Great Features For A Day Or Weekender Pack

Bought it for the man of the house who does weekender hikes with family in summer it has great amount of pockets to store all his chargers and stuff. When it’s fully packed it’s not too heavy. And is a great starter pack.

Hiking Bag

I bought this for a hike and the first day of the hike the back support came through the backpack. It was an uncomfortable hike for the rest of the week due to the metal hitting my back the entire trip.

I'm Happy About It.

The value for the price is unbeatable. I took this on a 3 day backpack trip a week after buying it. The construction held up perfectly, the lighter color fabric did stain with the amount of moisture on the ground. The internal frame seems to do what it's designed to. My leaving weight in this bag was around 25 pounds which was distributed nicely to start however the way the waist belt hits is too high on the stomach and it's hard to distribute more of the weight onto your hips while still having a nice tight pack so my shoulders really got fatigued and were in a lot of pain toward the end of each day. I'm 5'8" and we put in 12 miles (7-8 hrs) each day. The rain fly kept the pack completely dry through moderate rain. The mesh side pockets are spacious and durable, I was able to stuff a bunch of things in there I wanted easy access to while hiking including my liter of water, I did not utilize the water bladder feature. The mesh that rests on your back is a nice touch to keep the pack off of you so your back stays ventilated. I appreciated the cinch straps on the bottom of the bag to hold my tent poles horizontally on the outside of the bag. The trekking pole loops are a nice touch to keep them accessible but out of the way while not in use. the full length front zipper made for easy packing and unpacking but i didn't utilize it to access anything from the bottom without disturbing the stuff on top, due to the way I personally packed. Overall great pack for a 3-5 day outing.

Light Weekend Pack

This is a great pack, very light and versatile. Comes with a nice rain cover that packs easily into the front pocket. The gray color is very cool and keeps the contents of the pack cool on hot sunny trails. I really liked the main front zipper to access what I needed quickly from the pack.
