Was looking for a rope bag to replace our trusty Metolius shoulder bag that I could also use to carry my gear in. I was attracted to the "backpack" design hoping to make scrambles and traverses easier than with a shoulder bag. I decided on the FLIFF for it's price and after reading reviews. I recently tried the bad during a 2-day outing around Smith Rock, OR. The good: The bag easily carried a 70m rope, harness, shoes, jacket, a water bladder, and a set of x8 quickdraws and biners. The built-in rope tarp can be removed and worked well. The bad: This is striclty more of a bag with straps than it is an all-day backpack for a rope. After lugging it over 2 hours from crag to crag, I sorely missed it not having a waist strap to help with the weight, as well as more padding on the shoulders. It could also use some extra outside pockets and/or a daisy chain to clip accesories to. That said, the material seems very robust, and the large zippered main compartment makes taking gear in and out a cinch. Happy enough with it, but a few extra tweaks by Petzl would really make this a killer bag.
