I purchased this jacket for this year’s rainy season, so i have less than 1 year of use. The fit is fantastic - I’m 5’7, 150lbs and there is just enough room for a base and mid layer. With the vent zips, breathability is fantastic. Its kept me dry for my usage. The one wish I had is that the jacket had a two-way zipper in the front as well. When its warm outside and the rain is no longer coming down, sometimes you want to open up the pit zips all the way AND the front zipper - but if its windy, the jacket will tend to come off. A double zipper in the front would help that by allowing you to secure the top of the jacket to your body, but still allow it to be open in the front. So please, add a two-way zipper to the front!

I’ve been really impressed with the Outdoor Research Foray 3L rain jacket. It strikes a great balance between durability and comfort—solid waterproof protection without feeling stiff or bulky. The breathability is noticeably better than most rain shells I’ve used, especially when I’m active. It works well for everyday wear as it does outdoors. Consumers go out and buy this jacket as it is great.

The PNW has had an unusually warm winter, but still wet as usual. This coat has kept me perfectly dry, and the huge armpit vents have helped keep me cooler and dry from the inside, as well. I love this coat.

10 out of 10 on waterproofing, it has kept me very dry and the jacket looks like it will be bombproof construction wise. I wish the jacket was longer - it ends right at my waist and with a pack on it cinches up even higher. My main complaint is the hood. It fits great with a helmet on, but otherwise I find my vision is often obstructed just enough to be annoying. The shoulder articulation is a little off for me and I wish I had a little more movement without the sleeves riding up, but that’s me nitpicking. I’m still happy with it overall.

This is probably the best rain coat I’ve owned. It has a little stretch and fits well (I’m 6’4, 250 and got the XL). Sheds rain nicely and has a smooth finish. Not nearly as crinkly as my arcteryx beta

I've worn this rain jacket in both heavy and light rain showers and I stayed dry in every every instance. i appreciate the material that lines the interior as it makes the coat easy to put on and take off. It also keeps me from feeling sticky. My only comment that's not high praise is the sizing. the material doesn't have any give, so be sure to select the appropriate size for how you intend to wear the jacket. If this is a shell or you want to layer, I'd recommend sizing up as it can get a bit snug.

Its nice in cold colorado weather and it does good in hot tropics with the side vents.

BLUF: Great brand that stands behind their products and make sure the customer is taken care of! I had bought an Outdoor Research rain jacket, the Men’s Foray II Jacket in May of 2023 and I loved the color, material/Durability, and breath ability but my jacket always seemed to be not very waterproofed and I ended up wearing it as a windbreaker or a light sprinkle. I was disappointed but figured I was just stuck with a defective item, until I saw an ad online about OR Warranty. I reached out that day and with in a week I had a new Men’s Foray 3L Rain Jacket in the mail. It came just in time for the rainy season in Hawaii and has done great through these last two Kona storms, I stayed bone dry and not a drop soaked through. I am happy with the product and even more happen to support a reputable company that is here for the outdoors and military and not just for fashion. Thank you! Shaun

Fit is slightly baggy. Material is a little ridged. I am hoping it soften over time as it’s a little obnoxious with the baggier fit. It does seem durable and will last. The side zip vents help dump moisture and the jacket does not wet out. Overall quite happy with the quality for the price.

Overall I thought i would like the extended zippers but they're really uncomfortable when wearing a pack. Otherwise the jacket is fine.

I bought this, tried it on after trying on similar OR jackets at REI. The body of the jacket fits perfect (5’6” 190lbs - muscular build), but the arms are HUGE. I’ve got a large wingspan and even with longer arms for my height, the jacket sleeves reach my second knuckle on my middle finger. The arm diameter/circumference is also too large. The sleeves make it look like I am wearing MC Hammer pants on my arms. Returning and hoping one of their other items will fit better. I have two other OR products, an insulated hoodie and a light windbreaker I use for dog walks in the summer and both have way better fits than this

OR’s ascentshell fabric is NOT as robust in its weatherproofing as Goretex but is more breathable. This is a great jacket for off and on rain or short stints in hard rain. A practical jacket for the majority of us and MUCH better than the coated PVC nylon jackets. Goretex is king BUT the breathability of ascentshell is a worthy trade off.

I live in the PNW and got this jacket in the early fall and have certainly used it in the wet rainy fall and winter. Pros: waterproof, I stay mostly dry (see cons below), fit and windproof. It keeps the wind out and it is easy to layer and the venting is awesome. The tall front goes up and covers part of my face to keep the wind out is also a great feature. All great things for a high quality shell like this one. Cons: the hood- it is deep so much so that the hood almost covers my eyes and the elastic band to adjust the fit only makes it tighter and there is not a way to reduce the depth so that is annoying. Second, the bill of the hood points down not out. So that adds to covering my sight, but now when I am all zipped up, the bill drips water into the tall neck getting inside the coat wet, and you wet. I had a cheap shell that had a fantastic hood with adjustable depth and a great bill. The Foray is a high quality well designed waterproof jacket with a terrible hood. If they fix the bill and put a better adjustment for depth on the hood this would be way better.

jacket fits true to size not stretchy if plan to use with layers underneath maybe upsize. Sadly the jacket soaks threw in the waist area/pockets not sure if it has to do with the zippers used or the stitching along the waist itself they figure this issue out could definitely be a five star goretex jacket. As with most goretex items its breathable until it gets wet, dry's fast.

Water proof. I hunt in pnw and jacket is great for the woods. I would recommend. Thin enough to work out in. I put a a sweatshirt underneath for when it was cold
