I’ve Been A Talon Series

I’ve been a Talon series user for a long time, and I think the Talon Pro 30 is the best I’ve had yet. Great fit and carries weight comfortably. No shifting while hiking. The bucket style makes it seem bigger than 30L. Water resistant hip belt pockets are a nice addition. This will be my go-to day pack for a long time!

Great 30l Pack For Serious Hikers

The, fit and suspension on this pack are awesome. I was skeptical about the O/S sizing but the pack is very adjustable for most “normal sized” people, and it fits great. I love this pack and I will happily use it for the rest of my life. However, 2 things to note. It does not have a top pouch. It has pockets instead and in the long run it works just fine, but I like a separate top pouch - not a deal killer. Second, if you are the person putting 3L of water and 10 hours of food and a real first aid kit / repair kit it this pack and taking it for a 10 mile mountain climb or other long hike - then quit thinking about it and buy it. This pack was made for you. If you put a rain jacket, water bottle and a power bar in your pack for a 4 mile hike, this is too much frame for you - Get the regular Talon instead, and it’s cheaper w a couple extra features.

Perfect Size For Day Hikes

This backpack has exceeded all my expectations. This may be a little overkill for my normal day hikes, but I can justify the extra space to carry water, food, and gear for the family and dog. Some of the features I immediately noticed and have come to appreciate over time: Perfect fit for my 6' body. Sits nicely on my shoulders and rests easily on my lower back. Carries load well and distributes the pressure better than other packs I have had. Appreciate the bucket style top entry. Plenty of room for my needs. Durable fabric that should last a long time.

Small Elastic Pockets And Too Thin Padding

The elastic pockets on the shoulder straps are too small. Osprey in the ad shows that these pockets are for a smartphone. But the most popular smartphone size with a screen diagonal of 6.7 ""does not fit! And I found another drawback: the padding of the shoulder straps is too thin, they put pressure on the shoulders if the backpack is loaded more than 5-7 kg.
