First of all, I love the WindBurner-system and MSR! For the next week we are planning a climbing-trip, so I bought the Hanging Kit, since it is designed to meet the needs of these activities. Today I tested the Hanging Kit for the first time with my 1.8 L pot on my balcony. I assembled the stove and the Hanging Kit according to the instructions. I started the stove, let it warm up until the wire glowed and put the full pot (1 L of water; ""Max Fill"" mark) on the stove and let the water boil. After that I recognized that one wire melted into the insulated cozy (see pictures). On the second try, I again put the full 1.8 L pot (1 L of water) on the WindBurner directly after starting the stove. The damage did not recur, so I thought it was my fault, because I had let the stove warm up at the first try so that the wires had got heated. Third try; this time with my full 1 L pot (aprox. 0,6 L or 20 oz of water; ""Max Fill"" mark). I started the stove, immediately put the pot on the hanging WindBurner. Seconds after the assembly, again one wire started to melt the insulated cozy (see pictures). I aborted my testings instantly. In conclusion of my testings under normal conditions (10 C° or 50 F°; almost windless), I cannot recommend this product because it potentionally melts the insulated cozy.
