Ok As A Fair To Good Weather Tent

We have two smaller 4 season tents we use during long back country camping trips, but bought this for car camping for just the two of us to have standing room and lots of space to hide in inclement weather. Easy setup with 2 of us, tons of room for 2 people and decent space for a family of four if two are smaller kids. The vestibule is large enough to seat two adults in chairs. The floor fabric seems pretty tough but the walls and fly are only average, but then we're used to 4 season fabric. The poles are robust but the tie-downs are wimpy and don't appear to be well sewn in. In fact, some of the stitching is pretty sloppy on the fly vents and windows. Stayed dry during one long shower during the only time we've used it. I would think twice about pitching this tent in the open if wind is predicted. If you do, definitely face the main door to the leeward. We placed a poly tarp under the tent and a thick plastic cover inside to protect against stones, etc we might track in. Not enough storage pockets if there's 4 or more campers. Lastly, the carry bag: I like it, wife doesn't, but either way it ripped while she was taking the tent out and she isn't the rough type.

Excellent Quality

Got a good deal on what looked like a returned item. Zipper quality is impressive and set up is fast and easy. Only negative is without the rain canopy it’s wide open screening. That only was an issue when it was hot outside and needed privacy.

Good Value

Nice tent at first blush. Easy to put up. Plenty of space. Brand has a long history of super durable outdoor gear. The stow bag is awesome and leaves room for a footprint if you use one. And pretty darn affordable. There’s an odd detail on the rain fly at the front vestibule. The pole sleeve creates a kind of gutter that will push water back toward the tent and seam in the fly. I have yet to test the tent in a real howler so I can’t say if the issue is of serious concern. Also I think the older model had clear plastic on the fly windows. This model has kind of a cheesy flap instead which is disappointing. Overall though me and the fam love the tent and look forward to many great adventures in it for years to come.

Fair Weather Tent

Having camped for 3 weeks in hot sun, pouring rain and heavy winds, the Conifer is average. Pros are easy setup, multiple doors, generous vestibule, clip on fly, cool design. Cons are only half of the front door has a zippered screen, not easy to roll up fly to expose screen sides when hot, back of the tent can not withstand wind without bending and caving in, tie downs ropes only attach to fly and not poles, so not much support in wind, optional footprint is about 4” too wide around edges so when it rains, water rolls down fly and goes right under tent, vestibule has no bottom flaps on fly, so again rain drips onto footprint and goes under tent, velcro tabs on fly don’t align properly, only 2 small mesh storage pockets and a very small gear hammock, accessing front zipper from inside is difficult due to angle and zipper grabs on velcro tabs, must use 2 hands, one to pull zipper and the other to keep the fabric from catching, in the morning with heavy condensation you get soaked openning door, tent material is not rip stop so you have to be very careful it does not rub against anything

Best Tent I Have Ever Owned

A little over two years ago we bought this tent for car camping. When it first arrived we were impressed by how light it was. We set it up which was easy for one person and noticed how spacious this tent is! Personally I am coming from the two person dome tent land but we decided we wanted to be able to stand up to change and have a queen raised air mattress. There is so much room in this tent it’s amazing. The fly goes to the ground so in a few severe thunderstorm we stayed dry. Wind 30 mph gusts might blow it down the back side in a headwind but if you anchor the guy lines it will withstand it. The walls are almost completely screens which could be a weakness in the design. We tent to camp into late September in northern Maine in New Hampshire and some nights get into the 30’s but we have heavy sleeping bags for those nights. The vestibule is so large we have played cards by sitting in two chairs and having a small table set up. Overall we are very happy with the quality and design of this tent!
