It's pretty amazing the quality and comfort of this jacket for the price. It feels slightly less like a rain jacket and a touch towards the soft shell jacket feel. My only gripe is the pit zip zipper is cold on my arms if I wear a short sleeve shirt underneath, so I usually plan to wear long sleeves to prevent that. It's a small complaint to have in order to have the pit zips. A zipper guard would probably increase the jacket price. I have 2 gore tex marmot jackets that I could wear but this one feels less like a thick, unbreakable plastic shell. This jacket is unique in that it has a breathable waterproof barrier similar to gore tex but it's only rated for 20,000 according to their documentation. I've read that there has been issues with some of the previous years versions and delamination. With this new 3 layer design hopefully that issue has been fixed. Only time will tell. All in all it's my go to rain jacket unless I'm going to be in it all day long. It's probably one of the most comfortable rain jackets I've owned. I'm a 32 waist with a 40r chest and opted to get the medium. The fit is more standard so if I wanted a really tight fit I maybe could have squeezed into a size small. The medium fits really well though and allows for me to wear a decent mid layer if needed. One of my favorite things is the hood. I don't plan to wear this with a helmet so it's great that the hood fits closer to my face than my other marmot jackets and it has adjustments to fine tune the fit. My least favorite thing is the placement of the pockets but as this is meant to be a more technical version of the standard eco jacket it's understandable. I don't need to stick my hands into my rain jacket pockets anyways.

Great jacket with a textured lining to prevent stickiness on warmer days

Excellent jacket and perfect fit for 2XL bigger torso Filipino. Definitley, a bulkier option compared to the original and would recommend the regular Precip to the hiker.

Great jacket so far, no issues with anything and is breathable

Fits well. Hood is proper size. A hair thicker than a very thin shell.

I’ve had Colombia and mountain hardwear rain jackets and parkas in the past, but this one far exceeds those brands. I love the zippers under the arms and the way it fits and feels in general. Best jacket on the market for that price point.

Very happy with jacket. I prefer three layer waterproof fabric as opposed to a two layer with mesh inside. It just feels better to me, and I enjoy that about this jacket. I use this for everyday wear and alpine or telemark skiing with a layer under it. I won't be backpacking with it as emergency rain wear, so I like a little heavier fabric, and this is perfect. It just hangs better on your body and is more durable. Hood is well made and fits well. Also, subtle chest logo is tone on tone, at least in orange color. I don't like being a billboard for a company's branding. Very classy. I would like to have an inside pocket and a small left sleeve pocket for a lift pass, but pockets add a lot to the cost of a garment, and this piece is priced well, so no complaints. Buy it, you'll like it.

Nice jacket. Good fit and venting. I have several Marmot items in my gear closet. Unlike Marmots in the wilderness (never trust a Marmot) Marmot brand gear you can trust and count on!

First off, it’s really lightweight and doesn’t restrict my movement. Love the huge pockets that extend above the backpack’s hip belt - a nice place to protect my phone and other electronics in the downpour while still easily accessible. Got into a really heavy rain while on top of a mountain, barely had time to put the jacket on, everything was soaking wet in less than a minute. The part under the jacket remained completely dry. The shell also has nice big pit zips for ventilation, which are easy to open/close with one hand. Not all jackets can boast this feature

I bought this jacket in recent weeks in prep for a long backpacking trip in late August. No chance to test the jacket in nasty wet weather but the fit is good for my body type (6’; 190lbs; 44Reg)

Amazingly well constructed and impervious to rain, snow and wind. Light enough to run in without winding up soaked in sweat afterward but, keeps out the elements at the crag all day long. High pockets allow for a spot to warm hands or reach your phone with a climbing harness on and hood is big enough to get over a helmet. Cannot say enough about this jacket. Stop looking and buy one!

I'll admit I don't know too much about this type of shell jacket. I usually wear a heavy commercial fishing style pvc jacket when I'm working and a frogg toggs jacket when I'm backpacking. I also have an old North Face shell that I found in a snow drift, nobody asks me for change when I'm wearing it. So needless to say I'm really impressed with this shell. I can't believe how lightweight and packable it is. The pit zips are generous and the material itself seems very breathable. My favorite part is the cut. I have a long torso and this thing sure does keep rain out of the plumbers crack. The sleeves are long enough that you can gasket your gloves. The torso has an athletic cut, I feel less like a sail flapping in the wind compared to when I wear my other gear. The pockets look weird, sitting high up on your ribs like cat nipples, but I think they make a lot of sense. They work really well with a pack belt, staying accessible and providing less material to chafe. It's a thoughtful design for the outdoorsperson, dissing these pockets is admitting to being an athleisure poser, too delicate for a heavy pack and too self-conscious for sensible cat nipple style gear storage.

Overall I'm happy with my purchase. Love the green color and the light weight material. One thing that takes some getting used to is the position of the front pockets. They are much higher than normal position so if you are trying to put your hands in, you end up closer to your chest than your waist. I did notice that it does make it easier to get into cars if you have your phone/wallet etc. in those pockets.
Marmot rain jacket
I had been looking for a lightweight wind/rain proof jacket for sometime for mountain biking. This jacket is just what I needed to tame my early spring rides. The jacket is roomy but not boxy, it has hook/loop closure for the cuffs, armpit vents and sealed front zipper. The neck has a nice soft material as well for when the zipper needs to go all the way up!! The jacket also has a hood, but unfortunately it is not large enough to go over my helmet. Side pockets are angled so that things won’t fall out if you inadvertently forget to zip them. The jacket breathes enough to allow layering and only a minimal amount of moisture remained on the inside of the jacket.
