Fantastic 3-season Bag

More like a 20 degree bag, this bag is plenty warm. I upgraded from a long 20 degree Marmot Trestles Elite synthetic bag, which is a decent bag for the price, but much heavier and bulkier than this Hydrogen 30, and both bags seem to provide about the same warmth. This long Hydrogen 30 has plenty of room for me at 6'4" and 160 lbs. I don't feel constricted, just very cozy/warm. This is my first down bag and it feels quite luxurious compared to the 5 year old synthetic bag it has replaced. The difference in loft is remarkable, as my old synthetic bag has almost none by comparison. It packs down scary small, and weighs hardly anything. The zippers are solid and smooth, and the craftsmanship had no issues. Having this bag makes me want to get out there and hike/camp. Besides the backpacking I've done with it, I've actually spent some time using it at home in the bedroom just for kicks on colder days. Expensive, but worth it if it suits your needs.

Marmot Hydrogen 30 In The Pacific Northwest

In my opinion, Marmot makes the best bag for the money. I have researched and bought other brands and now I have the hydrogen Long. The construction quality, the hood, the zipper, the footbox, the baffles and loft, are all A+. And it seems to me while other manufacturers squeeze to the lower EN limit, Marmot adds a little EXTRA down. For example this Hydrogen bag which they list as a 30 degree lower limit bag actually has an EN rating of 24. You can get a slightly lighter weight 30 degree bag with 850 down (instead of 800+)and pay twice as much or more, and I'm sure they are very good, but I'm convinced that Marmot is the most bang for the buck. (also, just to say, the EN # isn't everything, but it's the only way to COMPARE the warmth of similar bags)
