Good Climbing Hiker

I purchased a half size larger than my normal shoe size, as I intend these to be more of a hiking / scrambling shoe rather than a true climbing shoe. Very grippy and wide enough forefoot to allow for all day comfort. If you want more of a climber, a normal size works with more toe discomfort on long days.

Sizing

The sizing on these is way different than other La Sportiva approach shoes. I wear a 44.5 in the Guide TX, a 44.5 in Bushido, a 43.5 in Katana, and 43.5 in Aequilibrium but I had to size down twice with these to get a proper fit in a 42.5...that was an expensive exchange process. Great shoes, like all shoes sportiva makes.

Not Sold On The Lace System

I wanted to love these shoes, but I’m just not sold on the lace system. I don’t really want to deal with it if they break while hiking. Otherwise very comfortable and grippy shoe.

New Favorite Approach Shoe.

I have previously owned multiple pairs of TX2 as well as a pair of TX4 and never thought I needed the TX3 since I have both the other models. However, after purchasing the TX3 I can easily say this is the best model of the three. It combines the lighter more breathable aspect of the TX2 with the structure and support of the TX4. This will replace my TX4 going forward, however, I will still keep a pair of TX2 for when I need a lightweight walk-off shoe. In general, hiking/scrambling in any of the TX lineup approach shoes will be far more enjoyable than scrambling in hiking or running shoes.

Stone Cold Classic

What is there to say about the TX line that hasn't been said already? If the last fits your foot they're a game-changer. The TX3 is a very well-balanced all-mountain all-rounder -- the synthetic upper dries well, breathes well, and is durable enough to handle all but the most abusive conditions. The shoe is light (for a bomber approach shoe) and nimble. It's not the best edger out there, but man can these things smear. You just float across slabs and talus.
