Fits Well, Horrible Design.
Purchased these in 2022. Next day took them up pikes peak in Apr and have been using them on and off again ever sense. Very comfortable around the foot. A bit flexible for serious ice climbing, but I took them a few times and on easy climbs they will do okay, they are not for mix and difficult objectives. But ... la sportiva ... what were we thinking here? Ice boot with no water to attach gators, automatic crampons, and a BOA system that is pressed super hard into your legs once the shell is zipped. I say on and off again bc everytime I wear them for more than an hour I remeber why they are the LAST boots I go for when looking up at a technical mountain objective.

Decent Performance, Poor Fit/comfort
I am a guide and bought this boot for the spring and summer alpine season here in the Sierra. I have used them on things from multi day Shasta climbs, single and multi day instructional days in Tahoe and multi day Sierra objectives on snow and on rock. They’ve seen many miles in a variety of terrain at this point and if these boots shine in one area, it’s keeping my feet dry, which is obviously great. However, I hesitate to give them better reviews mostly because of the fit/comfort and durability of the boot. I have already noticed some damage to the zipper and other fancier bits of the boot. The boa system only tightens around the foot, without any ankle support and I have consistently noticed the boa system getting looser fairly quickly after adjusting it and not maintaining the feeling of security on my foot. The other big complaint I have with them is the tongue and ankle strap of the boot. The tongue consistently moves out of place, to the side, which causes the ankle strap to rub my shin raw within a few hours of travel. Not ideal. The boots keep my feet dry when everybody else has wet feet, and for what they are, they climb quite well but, improvements to the fit and security are needed. I also wish they were a bit wider, or offered a higher volume option.

A Perfect Boot For An Imperfect Climber.
This is the most expensive boot I’ve ever purchased by a wide margin, and I got them for me and my wife. I expected buyers remorse, but they have been worth every cent. My wife has Raynaud’s, so her feet always freeze, but with these boots that hasn’t been a problem. After my back surgery my numb right leg had made descents a trip up the Amazon, but the goat heel is a thing of beauty. Other reviewers have complained about how they perform with crampons, but our semi-automatic crampons have worked great with them, even with my dead leg. The zippers…well, there’s no excuse for them. They are a pain in the ass, but after 60 climbs in the Cascades, I can still get them zipped (In, like, 15 minutes). Most importantly, after my back surgery I am physically impaired, yet these boots make it possible for me to drag my ass up Rainier, and that’s saying something.

Good Idea, But The Zipper...
I purchased the boot in 2023 and it lasted a season. The problem I had with my pair is that the gaiter zipper jammed and then came off the boot. Once that happens, you're pretty much toast in the field since a lot of the insulation/protection is in the gaiter itself. Getting in and out of the boots was also a pain in the neck. I will be purchasing an AEquilibrium LT and using it as my winter boot from here on out.

Excellend For Their Niche!
These boots rock if your intended use is light winter mountaineering. I’ve used them on ~25 winter summits above 13,000’ in CO. The double boot design makes them toasty warm in cold conditions. I use an anemometer to measure windchill on the summit and I’ve been 100% cozy in -30F conditions. They’re completely waterproof but breathable enough (although they accumulate humidity between the inner boot and gaiter). As another reviewer mentioned the zippers aren’t great but applying firm pressure while zipping (pressure towards the boot) will get the zipper right back on track- after starting to do that I’ve had no issues although I did struggle with the zipper failure issue on the first climb I did with them. I have used strap crampons without issue (for travel on rock, ice, and icy snow). They are significantly more flexible and lighter than traditional mountaineering options like the Nepal Cubes (which would be more suitable for ice climbing). I’ll be buying a few extra pair of these; they’re perfect for almost everything Colorado has to offer in snowy conditions.
