Unsuitable For Hiking

I wanted to love these shoes, I really did. But they either have a manufacturing defect or are simply terribly designed. The foam soles are extremely thick and compress in very unpredictable ways, causing me to constantly adjust my gait just to stay upright. After a 30-minute walk on a groomed trail, my lower back pain was unbearable. No amount of “breaking in” or “getting used to” can improve these shoes. They are advertised as a hiking shoe yet it remains a mystery to me what type of surface they are designed for - they were equally awful on smooth paved surfaces or uneven wooded terrain. KEEN will not honor a return request outside of the 30-day trial window due to “system limitations”. Such a disappointing experience in every way.
