I took this coat on hikes, sledding with kids in snowstorms, and rainy walks with the dog. The jacket seems to absorb a little water but I've always been dry underneath. A great alternative to gore-tex without the environmental implications. My only qualm is the lack of side-pockets which I knew about before but is still a nuisance. Overall, very pleased with my purchase.

I did a fair amount of research before I decided to make this purchase and happy I did. It is true that this is not completely waterproof but it has held up great in rain, sleet, snow ect. I haven't had it soak through yet. Overall, solid 4 stars

I’ve had this jacket for three years now. It’s a great lightweight jacket, but it’s the worst rain coat I’ve ever owned. I dread having to rely on it. It soaks through almost immediately and always has. I’ve reproofed it several times, tech wash, wash in stuff, spray on stuff, multiple brands including Fjallraven’s own reproofing spray, followed the directions meticulously - makes no difference. It only has two pockets and they leak, too. I’ve literally pulled my phone out of standing water in the chest pockets after less than 20 minutes in the rain. It’s very comfortable, I like the lengthy fit, has a big hood, nice and stretchy, but not water resistant in the least, so essentially worthless as a shell. Given the cost, there’s no excuse for unreliable performance.

Love the jacket, has held up great in long continuous rain. Only knock is that there are no real pockets for hands to keep warm. Will always need gloves with this jacket, otherwise would have given 5 stars.

This jacket is worth every penny I spent for it. Totaly waterpoof and completely breathable. Fjallraven has great product. Will buy again.!!!

This is a great shell with ample arm length and space to fit a multiple layers underneath but it still looks sleek. The hood has a nice bendable peppery to it.

I’d been eyeing this jacket for awhile...I mean who doesn’t love the mountain man look of Fjallraven stuff with the technical functionality to withstand a blizzard? Anyhoo, I ended up sending it back for a different color, but here’s my assessment: Pros: - Super waterproof while being eco conscious - Looks awesome - Like the ingenuity of the venting zips giving you access to mid later pockets - Hood is great size and customizable Cons: - I had to size up cuz things get a little tight in the pit area (I have always had challenges with this due to my broad shoulders) Probably just a me thing - Still feels a bit weird not having hand warmer pockets. - Wrist Velcro can’t be attached fully open...I.e. it’s always gotta be a little cinched up - could be a hair slimmer Overall I’m keeping the jacket, but still have to test it out while wearing layers in hardcore conditions, but looking forward to it!!!!

Like all Fjallraven products this jacked does not disappoint. The fit is spot on and I like the positioning of the side zips for venting. I haven't had it long enough to say, but from all the years of experience I have had using all the big name brands out there I can say this jacket is quickly becoming my favorit.

Initially ordered this looking for a do-it-all kind of shell specifically for rainy/snowy weather and doubling as a ski shell. The features make it a great ski shell but unfortunately even just testing it out water wet out the face fabric. To be clear, it did not come through but it also did not bead at all and left a clammy feeling inside. Maybe it needed a DWR treatment at the outset? Hugely disappointed because I loved everything else about the shell and the fact that it didnt look so technical.

Bought this jacket a month ago and using this periodically when the rain is here. The jacket is light weight and well ventilated, and is a jacket I love to use. While I understand the reasons for the longer sleeves, longer back, and larger hood for the possible use of helmet, I would have liked a tighter fit for a medium size jacket that I normally use.

Fjallraven makes some of the best outdoor clothing out there (well in my opinion at least). This shell and a fleece underneath it are usually all that I need to survive most of the winters here in NY. The fit is fitted and the look is great!

I bought this jacket a while ago and use it every chance I get. It’s a perfect shell and not super noisy like other shells I have had in the past. I normally fit into size medium and needed to order a small for the best fit. Overall feels great, definitely waterproof, looks good, and can’t wait to use it for years to come

The build quality on this jacket is excellent. It has a softer feeling, for a hardshell, but this does not make it feel thin or cheap to me. It is quieter than other similar shells I tried on by companies like Marmot, TNF, Arc'Teryx etc., and the earth-tone inspired colors definitely help set this apart from the brighter hues of its competitors as well. I weigh 170 at 5'10" and the medium fits well, with some room for layering and a little room for added body weight. I'd guess this jacket would function well up to about 180 pounds in medium with room for a lightweight down mid layer underneath. Have yet to really put this thing to a true, extended test, but I am impressed with what I have seen so far! This has seen a light, sustained rain shower, and I wore it for over an hour in a sustained snowfall. No issues with either. I purchased this and the keb eco-shell "parka," not knowing which would suit me better. The parka is significantly larger than the jacket in the same size. Obviously the parka is also longer, and has some fur lining on the hood. There is a small amount of "brushed mesh" inulation in the body of the parka, but not enough in my opinion to truly consider it insulated in any way. It was my opinion that this took away from the parka's versatility, as it did not significantly add to using the jacket for winter weather, but the did take away from its practicality as a three or four season piece. I sent back the parka and kept the jacket. Because the back of the Jacket is cut lower than the front in order to cover the seat, I realized I would not miss the length on the parka quite as much, and I wanted the versatility of a 3-4 season piece- ymmv. If you're looking for a good shell that also happens to be ecologically minded in its manufacture, this is a good buy.
