M / 36 - 6'4" / 200 lb. - I have pre-improved fit Barents Pro Trousers, and I have "improved fit" Barents Pro Trousers, and I emphatically prefer the former. While the Improved Fit initiative did solve some sizing issues, it also introduced some new chaos specifically into male trousers sizing. The new Barents Pro Trousers have a shorter inseam, so even though they are still plenty long for some people, it's a questionable change on one of the only raw length styles that impacts taller customers (see other reviews). They are also a narrower silhouette overall, so there isn't as much room in the legs. I have no problem with tapered trouser styles, but not every style needs that same shape. This one in particular benefitted from a more roomy fit. I'm glad to see the Vardag Relaxed Trousers enter the lineup, and I hope that silhouette is preserved and carried into other styles as well. The Barents Pro Trousers (fit struggles aside) are still one of my favorite styles, as they are only a few details away from being raw-length Vidda Pro Trousers without the technical cuff.

If i could give it lower i would. the new raw length is probably the stupidest thing they have ever done. i have 4 other pairs that fit my leg before this stupid update. now the knee pad is essentially a shin guard. the whole trouser is out of proprortion. i would fire the person who came up with this idea or the designer who spaced the pocket and knee patch out. idiots. sent my new ones back and will wait till they fix or update with new design.

I’ve been using the Barent Pro Trousers for a few weeks now, and they are hands down some of the best outdoor pants I’ve ever owned. The build quality is exceptional—the fabric is tough enough to handle rugged terrain, brush, and cold weather, yet surprisingly flexible for comfort while hiking or climbing. The articulated knees and reinforced seat really make a difference when you’re moving or kneeling, and the fit is true to size with enough room for layering in colder conditions. The pockets are well thought out, plenty of storage without feeling bulky. I’ve worn them in rain, snow, and muddy trails, and they hold up beautifully while drying quickly. They’re clearly designed with serious outdoor enthusiasts in mind—whether for hunting, hiking, or long days in the field. If you want a pair of trousers that can take a beating, keep you comfortable, and last for years, the Barent Pro is worth every penny.

I own several pairs of the old fit which were excellent. The new "improved" fit ruined this classic trouser as the legs are way too tight

So disappointed in the "improved fit". Basically they just made them 2" shorter. The only good pants that fit me at 6'9" tall are now gone

The new "improved fit" has a raw length of only 36". This is far too short. It's a shame because I would happily have continued to buy these trousers as long as they made them in the old length, but now I will never buy another pair (unless they start making the raw length longer again).

I'm super disappointed to discover the RAW length has been shortened. As someone who is 6'7" / 2m tall with a 38" inseam, these are the ONLY quality outdoor trousers I've been able to wear these last several years. I own at least 7 pairs and intended to order a couple more for ones wearing out this year, only to discover the RAW inseam length has been shortened to 36" - way too short for me. Please reconsider offering a selection in true longer length for us tall folks who've relied on you for so long, and no longer have an alternative!

I have seven pairs of Barents Pro Trousers, all over 6 Years old. Out of the blue a decision was made to turn decent trousers into "drainpipes" ( an English expression for leg tight trousers). I could not wear the new fit, just too uncomfortable and far too tight from waist to bottom leg.

I own six pairs of these trousers and I can tell you that your improved fit is not! All you have done this thin down the legs which makes them more uncomfortable when you're walking also makes them tighter on the boot. I reiterate this is not an improvement!

Overall, I owned 3 pairs of Barents Pro. The two first pairs, I wore about 500 rough days (250 each) within two years, travelling around the world, while hiking and camping for weeks in Nepal, Sikkim, Himashal Pradesh, New Zealand or Tasmania, or simply as daily backpacker trousers. After those 2 years, rubbing between my thighs caused the fabric to tear (I have very big thighs - my jeans rip there after having been worn barely 60 times). I simply patched the tears with the excess of fabric from the legs, which I had kept. I still wore them many, many more times afterwards. Because the patches weren’t aesthetic, I got another Barents Pro (and a Karl) some time later. To me, those trousers are one of the best investments I ever made.

If I could only have one pair of trousers, they would be these. Hard-wearing, good for kicking through undergrowth and the perfect fit. I have big thighs and can squat and step over obstacles without ripping the crotch.

Finally was able to wear these pants after buying a month earlier for my trip to Lake Tahoe and got a tear near the knee from bending down to take off my snow shoes. Looks cool and has lots of pockets though.

Just received my item. I chose size 48 as I’m 6’2” and of similar build to the model shown in the above images. The trousers are at least 4 inches too long. The waist size is borderline. Being really annoyed is an understatement.

This was my second item I ever got from this company and I love them! Like the Sten jacket it's a sleek design and definitely got compliments from these pants. As for water repellence, Like the sten, it's worth having Greenland wax to put a few coats for before your adventures to add more resistance. But other than that the pants are a worthy investment for your hiking adventures!

I love these hiking trousers !! I live in the Midwest and I did not know how they would hold up in our really cold winters. They are great in the snow and wet cold. I add a layer underneath for warmth and the trousers do the rest. I tend to be hard on jeans and cargo pants but these are just as rugged and really lightweight. In addition to hiking, I do a lot of outdoor shooting and needless to say these do just fine for a day at the range. They arrived extra long , but I understand why, I washed them twice and then took them to get altered and it has been great ever since. What an amazing product !!
