Upon receipt, I found the spring loader on the cam to be somewhat sticky and slow to respond. A single drop of oil in the small opening solved the problem. Actually the way this device operates this may not be an issue, but I am not taking any chances with my life on the line - literally. Otherwise, the non-toothed cam appeals to me to mitigate rope wear. If I was going to depend on a device like this solo, not as part of a combo, then I might select one with a toothed cam.
