Super Bouncy. Much Improved Over The Max 2

I will start this out by saying I'm more of a recreational runner and not a race runner but this shoe is much improved over the previous Max 2. While I loved the previous version I always felt it needed a bit more cushion to be considered a "max" shoe. This version definitely holds up to the name. Super fast while remaining very bouncy. Loved my first test run right out of the box. I think it will take a little breaking in for anything over 3 miles for me as I do battle with some heel and foot issues but always looking forward to my next run

Great Quality, Super Comfortable

Bought this shoes for long runs, was not expecting them to be to comfortable but they are my feet feel secure every step I make

Cushiony, Quick Transitions, Bad For High Arches

Hopefully this hyper specific review helps someone! I wanted to love these but they just didn’t work for me. I have high arches and over pronation, and am currently training for a marathon. For my first couple runs in these, the shoes were so tight and the laces so short that I could just barely double knot them. Eventually, they loosened up and from miles ~25-75 these were great. After 75, things started going downhill and by mile 100, they were so loose my feet were sliding around in the shoe making my over pronation worse, but I couldn’t tie them any tighter or they would hurt the top of my feet because of my high arches. All that said, the cushion on these is incredible and the transitions are a breeze.

Great Trainer

I have about 175 on my pair so far, and they seem to be holding up well. I would imagine these lasting 350-400 miles for me. I’ve used them for long runs, tempo runs, and speed work on the track and they’ve been good for everything. They are fairly light even with the thick midsole and the DNA gold gives provides responsiveness when running. I haven’t had any stability trouble with the thick midsole. I do really like the cushioned portion of the upper under the laces as this really helps prevent lace bite. The pull tab on the heel is a nice feature as well. I would buy again and would love to see more colorways in this model.

Not The Best Shoes For Running

I feel like these would be great walking shoes as they are light, cushioned and feel great on the feet when walking. However, all of that goes away when you start running in them they become heavy and really firm, the bounce, cushion and lightness all go away. I run about 3-4 times a week and am trying to increase my mileage and based on running reviews these were a good option. I have 3 runs in these shoes and unfortunately these are not working out for me. My first run in them, I was barely able to run 2 miles and had to stop. My feet hurt they felt heavy and it was just so hard to push through. My second run was even worse, I was only able to run 1.2 miles and my 3rd run I was only able to reach 1.5 miles before I had to stop when I can usually run 4-7 at a time. These made the bottom of my feet hurt and no matter how hard I tried my feet did not let me run more and they made my knees so sore. I strength train and do Pilates every week and this is the first time a shoe took made me run slower and caused pain. This was my second time trying Brooks with a shoe did not workout for me.
