Disappointed- Returned

I bought and had to return! I absolutely loved the Hyperion 2 (from fit, to comfort and overall look), and I wonder why Brooks would totally change pretty much everything with the Hyperion 3. The Hyperion 3 was tight fitting everywhere on my foot. I have worn an 8.5 in every Brooks (Ghost, Hyperion Glycerin) and never have felt like shoe was overly snug. These did. Again, I returned after one run in these- disappointed- bought a last pair I could find of the Hyperion 2!! If you were excited about the Hyperion 2s don’t have expectations that the Hyperion 3 is anything like!

If You Liked Hyperion 2, Do Not Buy This

Absolutely disappointed with these. I loved every aspect of hyperion 2 and was so excited to try these. First, the upper is not breathable AT ALL! The tow box is narrow to the point that I had pain from my fingers hitting the toe box after a flat four miles run! The sole feels like a cheap hoka! Despite hyperion 2 being an amazing fast shoe that was my go to for tempo and interval runs, the hyperion 3 felt like a cheap plush shoe that depleted all of my energy with each stride. I could not even maintain my easy run pace with these and I’m not exaggerating. Absolutely disappointed at Brooks for messing up the hyperion 2. First with catamount and now with this :/

Great Distance Tempo Trainer

An excellent shoe from Brooks that is very different from it's predecessor, and needs to be assessed on it's own merits. I've only had a chance to do a single 15km run in them today, at paces between 5.10min/km and 4.20min/km. It performed very well, and I look forward to being able to run in it again. My US size 12 weighs in at 286gms (10.1oz) which is quite a bit heavier than the 228gms (8oz) of my Hyperion 2s. It's just a different shoe - the H2 is a unique lightweight trainer that I use for intervals and threshold runs, in distances up to 10km. This new shoe looks designed for longer runs at up to tempo paces. A reasonably lightweight daily trainer, that offers similar comfort to something like the Ghost 17, but more responsiveness and quite a bit lighter - and for the same price. You feel the extra stack height compared to the Hyperion 2, and while it uses the same DNA Tuned version 2 foam as the H2, it seem slightly softer. Still plenty of pop to propel you forward though. The entire feel of the shoe is more luxurious and comfort focussed. It fits in the standard Brooks way - i.e. excellent. Slightly snug in the mid-foot, but spacious forefoot. The heel counter is comfortable, and reminiscent of the Glycerin 22. The tongue is a unique design and assists with the good lockdown of the shoe. The new laces are a stepdown from the excellent sawtooth laces in the Hyperion 2 - what's up with that Brooks? Overall, I see the Hyperion 3 and Hyperion 2 as complimentary to each other and will be using them both in my rotation going forward. I do hope that Brooks finds a way to bring back a version of the Hyperion 2 (Hyperion Lite?) as it is quite unique in the market and has a cult following amongst quite a few runners I know.

Great Shoe

These shoes run true to size and have great cushion. The color is questionable but overall I like the design. The area they could be improved is with a bit more support and I feel my feet rolling inwards at times.
